Discool, yes same here, only backlit with lights on....I always drive with my lights on. As a test, I've been just been out (lights off) and cold switches!!! I have plenty of aux lights wired up to high beam, if anyone thinks that’s related.

Thanks. I removed the fuses (thinking this would isolate the switches) but they remain backlit and still get hot. The windows obviously don’t function with the fuses removed. Perhaps the internal light circuit is the culprit...

It's only the switches that are hot, not the plastic panel or the cubby box etc. I'm surprised that both circuits are behaving the same way.

Hi, My four electric window switches are getting very hot. Disco 1, 300tdi, 1998. I've checked the fuses and both (front and rear) are 30 amps - as per the Users Manual. I know there is a bulb within each which may get warm but the switches are hot (very hot). Any ideas? Cheers Andrew

Ok I've done a bit of google searching :p. Can anyone confirm if the stub axles have a recess as shown in the pics attached? The recess overshots the axle casing flange? This would explain why I cant see an obvious edge to hit with the hammer. Cheers.

OK maybe a big hammer is the solution. Ye I dismantled axle and removed the bolts, buts its solid. Just don't want to hit it until I know its meant to come a part....Cheers.

Folks, I'm rebuilding my 1979 S3 rear axle but the stub axles seem solidly attached to the axle housing...is this right? From reading other threads and looking at the parts catalog I believe the stub axles can be removed, but not on mine.....:eek:. The front stub axles came off no bother. photos...

Chaps, I think I've managed to slightly damage the internal threads on my rear axle oil drain plug. Does anybody know what thread size it is? I'm hoping a gentle tap will sort things out....help much appreciated.

I'm not expecting a quick fix....all adds to the fun.

ye its just a new problem, I started noticing it about 3-4 weeks ago. Thinking it might have just been some dirty fuel i used some of that deisel injector cleaner fuel additive but hasnt made a difference. cheers for the advice
