Sorry probably didnt explain it that well I have fitted a new set of plugs this morning it was two of the old ones that were covered in oil, were they covered in oil because they were not working or is it something else. Now the new set is fitted hopefully this will eliminate the problem Andy

Thanks for the comments, the fitting of the discovery R380 box looks ok and the 90 does drive very well, but I would quite like to put in the correct box to return the levers back to their original posistion, is it just a case of sourcing a 90 300tdi box and transfer box and swopping them over...
