Sounds like you have a very small air leak from somewhere. Likeliest candidate is a very small hole in the airbag where it rolls over to allow the airbag to expand and compress, which is where they mostly all fail with time as they age - soapy water is the best way to try and find any little air...

From what you describe, it can only be an air leak from somewhere in the system. No need to spend any money at all with Stratstone, as you've already got the right idea for finding where the air is coming from for free (that's all most mechanics will do to find the leak too).
