Yes, they are supposed to do this, they time out after several in/outs to prevent motor damage.

forget glowplugs, Td4 is direct injection and unless you're in mongolia, you wont need them. common faults for bad starting are, as previously mentioned, one or more injectors leaking or (and most common of all) the low pressure pump is on its way out, when you lost power and the MIL came on...

oxygen sensor springs to mind on this one, common on 1.8's that have done a few miles, this will not put the engine warning light on or log faults unless its totally ****ed, when "partially ****ed" it is reading the oxygen levels in the exhaust gasses and correcting AFR to suit but its not...

4.6 has a different oil pump to the early engines, 4.0/4.6 oil pump is driven straight off the crank and will prime itself. All rover V8's are prone to cam and lifter wear, this will cause a missfire before they rattle unless there's oil pressure problems. If there is wear, the cam AND lifters...

This is the first time I've heard of land rover replacing a whole vehicle under warranty so I don't know how you stand or what LR do about this. The other faults you mention are common ones!

its not a permenant fix, ascroft supply the drive coupling where land rover supply only the whole diff, it's just a way to save money. Bearmach also sell these. I'm sure someone soon will make a modified part and produce a permenant fix for this fault.

Oh well here we go.............. ABS/TC/HDC lights SRS light usually caused by a pretensioner fault water leaks into lock box window reg cables HGF (1.8 & V6) turbo (td4) driveshafts vibrating uneven tyre wear diff mounts engine mount knocking cos they're loose (td4) injectors (td4)...

Thats the first time I've heard of one catching fire, I've only replaced one pump due to a leak so it's not a common fault. Good luck with your quest, hope it gets sorted.

Have you got a rattle while the engine is running? I've done 2 lately with the same fault as yours and the cause was a slipping/cracked drive plate. If you have no rattle then I suggest changing the ATF and trying it.

Sounds about right for the 07 defender, I dunno what LR have done to the defender but it's **** compared to all the earlier models. Bin it and get a Td5

ecu shouldn't have been replaced, the oil will get as far as the ecu but cant get inside, I've had one apart and confirmed this. Get back to the dealer and kick some arse!

you need a new door latch, common fault. Just to double check though, put your ear on the drivers door near the latch and push the remote, if you can hear it click but not unlock then the latch is ****ed
