    got the heads off

If the head gasket has gone between the cylinders and is pressurising the cooling system then it it almost certain that the liners have slipped, there is no water jacket between the cylinders so the only way coolant can get into a cylinder is from between the liner and block. The only way to see...

    cant select any gears

Yes you can! Northern, you haven't said what freelander you have. If its a Td4 then chances are the slave or master have failed. If it's a 1.8 then it could be a siezed release arm, failed hydraulics or both. A siezed arm will kill the hydraulics due to excess strain on them.

    Bleeding a Td4 clutch

No need to take the gearbox out and no need to bleed, master cylinder comes prefilled and when disconnected they seal off to prevent air ingress. Fit the new master then pump the clutch a few times and the pedal will return to normal.

    RHD to LHD

Forget it!!!!! Yes the dash is the same for left and right hand drive but the bulkhead is not! The steering column mounts are welded to the bulkhead, the left side of the bulkhead is different to the right, the rack mounts are different side to side so LHD rack will not fit a RHD bulkhead...

    Revving Problem

You need to set the base idle setting with the screw on the throttle body, you need T4 to do this as this reads the stepper position and you turn the screw to the right setting according to the stepper position. If the setting is wrong then the idle air control goes up the swanny giving you the...

    here's a puzzler for you on a td4

Couldn't be bothered to read though all of this thread but lack of power after a service is usually down to the air filter cover not fitted back on properly. Not sure how this causes this problem as any air drawn in is still going through the AFM but I've seen many cases where the cover is not...

    Front end noise/vibration disco 2 TD5

check the tyres, they "step" just like freelander rear tyres and cause all sors of rumbling noises. If they are stepped, swap the wheels side to side. The noise wont go instantly but as the tyres wear in the other direction the noise will slowly disappear. Even the slightest stepping or...

    TD5 injector fault codes

Yep! Unplug it from the injectors and you'll see oil in the connectors, oil may not have gone as far as the plug on the front of the head but it's quite likely to be shorted at the injector end.

    Heater Matrix

Try bearmach. Alot of the stuff they do is genuine but in a different box as its straight from the supplier. Google it

    Feelander TD4_e

Yours may have but see how long your battery and starter lasts when you stop and start as many times as a td4e can. Wont be cheap after you've ****ed it.

    Water Ingress

check the air con drain tubes, they have a tendancy to block then water will backfill into the evaporator/heater box, this will be why it came out of the footwell vent. The tubes are located just above the gearbox, pull the end out and water will pour out of the tube so be ready fo it! You...

    Feelander TD4_e

yes there is a difference in mpg but it's really only any good in town driving, the main thing is it's in a cheap road tax bracket compared to earlier fl2's and this is the reason land rover did it. stop/start is standard on all 2010 models onwards You need to bear in mind though, there is...

Turns over but wont't start (crank sensor switch?)

Seen this a few times on V6 and Td4. usually its the camshaft sensor. Dead easy to replace and a DIY job

Descending whurring noise when turning engine off?

Could be turbo. Is the noise still wurring after the engine has stopped or does it stop when the engine stops? The only thing still spinning after the engine stops is the turbo. check for air leaks in the servo pipe and vacuum pipes. A split that sucks in air after the engine stops could give...

    clutch prob

before replacing the hydraulics, make sure the release arm isn't seized, common fault on the 1.8. if the arm is ok then replace the hydraulcs. If the arm is seized then you'll need to take the gearbox out to free it off

    Freelander shudder/judder

Does the gear lever shake from side to side when accelerating? If so then the front driveshaft inner joints are worn. Get under the front, grab the driveshafts and push/pull them up and down, if theres any play then thats your problem

    starting problems RR TD6

sounds to me like a fuel pressure problem, usually its the low pressure pump thats at fault. you could also have an injector problem causing the fuel pressure to drop below threshold. to confirm this you'll need to do a leak off test on the injectors. Take off engine covers, disconnect the...
