    Freelander 1 Bodged Hosing Question

Hi all, Whilst trying to get to the bottom of my overheating issue on my V6, I've noticed some rather bodged hosing work that's been done in the past. The pipe I'm referring to is the one marked in green below, I know it's only a return pipe to the expansion tank but surely it's not right...

Freelander 1 Leaking Oil Cooler Question

As for the hoses, the Top Rad hose stiffens and is very hot, as for the bottom hose, although does stiffen up, doesn't really get warm at all.....

Freelander 1 Leaking Oil Cooler Question

Thanks... I did get air out of both but I've had to drain it again as I discovered a leaking O ring on the Thermostat Elbow pipe (that was the strange "squelch" Hippo in one of my earlier posts)... Could be why it wasn't building up pressure? Wasn't a big leak at all though !!!

Freelander 1 Leaking Oil Cooler Question

After about 10 minutes, the expansion tank starts to boil over ! I've bled the system to the letter too (a few times) ! Also changed the thermostat (confirmed as working), various hoses, the expansion tank and cap (both pressure tested), temp sensors ! No idea what else it could be?

Freelander 1 Leaking Oil Cooler Question

Hi Tony, yeah I've got another one on order, was just wondering if this could be the cause for my overheating issue?

Freelander 1 V6 - Total Loss Of Coolant

Also, on the black "deposits" in the expansion tank. On closer inspection at first they appear to be black, however when I scrap some out and them rub in my fingers they do actually have a red/brownish tint (a bit like rust), could this be a problem with the transmission cooler (and actually be...

Freelander 1 V6 - Total Loss Of Coolant

Thanks for the advice everyone... I've checked in the V and there is definitely no evidence of a leak in there. So it must be somewhere else ! Also, when I squeeze the bottom rad hose, the strange "squelch" is definitely coming from within the V area, so I'm thinking it must be either the new...

Freelander 1 V6 - Total Loss Of Coolant

Right, system bleed (to the letter as per instructions) and it seems like I still have a problem as after just on 7 minutes (as per the bleed procedure) it starts to boil over in the expansion tank ! Can't see any obvious leaks however when I squeeze the bottom Rad hose, there is a sort of...

Freelander 1 V6 - Total Loss Of Coolant

Thanks Arctic2, I've checked in the V and its bone dry, so I'll fill it up again with coolant as you suggest and start it up ! Is there anything obvious it could be though ? Maybe could've been an airlock (might explain the bubble noise I heard)?
