Advice please on possible cooling fault

Have a look on mg-rover.org or just google for st Russell if I remember right I think he charges about £350, also look for Kayleigh, her bloke also runs a mobile service and John Norris, I know it's on a MG site but it's still the same engine and they are all highly recommended. Just remembered...

    ECU Remapping 1.8 Freelander

No I'm not confusing bhp and torque for pulling power but I do accept your is torque is the requirement for towing. The answer to the throttle body question is as standard it's a 48mm plastic or alloy, the plastic ones were made by S.U as in the old carburreter, they went out of business around...

    ECU Remapping 1.8 Freelander

The body was the 52mm alloy. As i've already said the difference in the flexibility is brilliant and all for £35.

    ECU Remapping 1.8 Freelander

Just a quick update on the Freelander, well I have now fitted the 52mm throttle body and I can't believe the difference. Used to get 22ish around town ( living in Sheffield it's nearly all hills) I have done 220miles at an average of 27mpg with no dual carriageway use, the engine responds much...

    ECU Remapping 1.8 Freelander

Thanks for the reply, I do about 2k per year with the van on, have looked on the Caravan club match site and it complains about the power output on all Freelanders, 32 bhp per ton for the 2l diesel, 35 for a Td4 and 37 for a 1.8 petrol yet you look at a car with 42bhp per ton and they don't have...

    ECU Remapping 1.8 Freelander

As the title implies I am considering getting the ecu remapped, has anyone had this done to a 1.8 freelander and did it show any gains over std settings. I have just recently changed the caravan for one weighing 1250kg and find that I'm up and down the gearbox a lot more than when towing the old...

    Hill Decent Problem

If its only the throttle cable the light will go out without having to have it read on a code reader. When mine came on intermittently it was the tilt sensor between the gear lever and handbrake

    Fuel consumption comparison 1.8 - TD4

I have a 2001 1.8 petrol with 80k miles behind it, my average around Sheffield is 26mpg take it out of town and 30mpg is very easy to get. Like you said does the minimal difference make it economically viable when you compare the fuel costs, ok the td4 has more power but I tow a caravan with the...

    todays problem

If I remember correctly, the 3 door has a switch under the removable top, this stops the window from working when you go topless, it would also affect the washers and wipers and heated rear window. after all you don't need ant of those when the top is off.

    A question for caravan towers

Hi, I have a coachman with the same problem, could have bought the 4x4 conversion handle, but being a tight fisted Yorkshireman I just take the screw out of the handle remove the handle then connect up and the replace it to lock it down.

    help please rear brake drum

take out the rear ash tray and you will see the handbrake adjuster, then try the drums it may give enough clearance to get them off. When you refit the drums adjust the the shoes first and then the handbrake.

    1.8 clutch problem

Hi, it is almost certain that the clutch arm is siezed in the gearbox bellhousing. If you are lucky you could free it off by using a short length of tube over the arm and move it backwards and forwards using a good penetrating oil ( not WD40) and then a spray grease. Sadly if that fails it's...

    master cylinder how to

Hi Andy, Clutch master and slave really easy to replace. Inside car pop off the ball joint at the pedal, then under the bonnet twist the master cylinder to remove it from the bulkhead, then go to slave cylinder and remove C clip which secures it to the bracket, the last bit is easier if you...

    new key from timpsons?

I went to the local locksmiths who have all the techy stuff needed to code keys, they took my key and came back apologising telling me it's a dealer only key as their kit can't read the code. Timsons on the other hand said no problem but hadn't got a blank, I know who I would trust.

Freelander rear brake disc - won't fit back

Just a thought but have you released the handbrake adjuster fully off?

    3 Amigo's -- SORTED

Had the chance this afternoon to plug into a T4 test rig, and there was nothing showing or stored, so whatever caused the problem whether it was something to do with the brake fluid level indicator I just don't know. The lights have flashed a couple of times and gone off again without returning...

    3 Amigo's -- SORTED

As I said yesterday I don't know if it was coincidence or if another problem had cleared itself but fingers crossed they are off and were off when I went out in it this morning so just hoping it's permanant.

    3 Amigo's -- SORTED

The brake fluid level was correct, so it wasn't a level issue I can only assume that the wiring to the level indicator is somehow connected to the 3 amigo's circuit. All I do know is that after removing, spraying with contact cleaner and replacing the plug the light's have now started to work as...

    3 Amigo's -- SORTED

Just to update on my 3 amigo's problems, yesterday it suddenly clicked that I've checked all the sensors, removed every plug, fuse and relay I could find that was remotely connected to these systems, replaced the brake light switch all to no avail. So yesterday after washing the cars I decided...

Still having probs with intermitent 3 amigo's

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I have backed off the throttle adjustment, no change, have tried reading from sensors when lights are off and when they are on, readings still the same. Today I found the accelerometer near the handbrake checked the wires and sprayed with contact cleaner again no...
