    play in front prop shaft.

It's an '03 with 49k on it. Shouldn't be any serious wear at that mileage, hence I wondered if they did it from new. One thing I learned about Land Rover's is that sometimes you have to see if a noise gets any louder to be able to decide whether to do something about it!

    play in front prop shaft.

Interesting thread guys. Do you get a "clunk" from the transmission during driving at all? Reason I ask is I get one from mine. Is it usual to get a bit of "lash" when you engage forward from reverse, or reverse from forward? It's not horrendous, just a gentle "clunk". Also noticable if I let...

    Disco II diff lock

I can't engage the diff lock on mine (2003) but the Hi-Lo box works fine. The badge on the facia still shows the diff lock to the left though - when they discontinued it, did they remove the facia decals?

    Hello!

Nice one Del, thanks. They look pretty chunky right enough, I like it. Any issues with clearance at all? Can the back go all the way to the bump stops without any intereference? Jock PS - BTW did the pictures work like I said?

    Decisions, decisions

Space is an issue as I may be chucking all sorts of crap in the back from time to time. After all this time, I actually find the split tailgate a bit of a pain... you have to howk in and out of the back all the time when your loading any sort of stuff. What am I on about.... I've got my shiny...

    Decisions, decisions

Guys, I need help. Not just in medical way either. Having bought a nice shiny, I have cash left for a V8 off-road project. I just cannot decide whether to go for a 3.9/4.0 Disco-1 or a classic Rangey. The vehicle is going to get a lift, mental tyres, ridiculous spotlamps, some underneath body...

    Hello!

When you put up a post or reply, you'll find a little button down below which says "Manage Attachments". You can click that, and then select a file - it'll upload it and put a link on your post (I think). Jock

    Hello!

Del - any chance of a picture?

    Steel Seal

I'm not really a fan of things like Steel Seal, but I chucked a bottle in a classic V8 (same thing, motor only worth a grand) and it held for over a year until I sold it. I intended to do it at the next major service, but forgot about it! But to be honest, I don't think I had a failure into the...

    SLS and Coils

Good comments guys, thanks. The height sensors do look too exposed to me, can't believe that LR didn't box them up better (well, actually I can totally believe it). I am a bit air suspension paranoid after a nightmare with my P38, but the SLS seems a bit more straightforward. This motor's...

    SLS and Coils

One of the most contentious subjects on the RR forum is people who elect to convert from EAS to coils - it really does start some interesting "conversations". Wondering what the views of SLS-equipped Disco owners is on this? Anyone here convinced that converting to coils was a good move? Anyone...

Advice for buying a 2003 Discovery Please?

This thread really cheers me up, as I bought an '03 TD5 yesterday for collection next weekend... But then having come from a P38 I do not believe it can be any more unpredictable. I find Land Rovers are very different. It's almost like you need a bit of vehicle ESP... personally, I notice if an...

I'll post one as soon as I pick it up!!!

    Hello!

Interesting you say that - I had GT AT2's on the Rangie! No additional road noise that I heard, nice fat walls for non-standard parking manouvres. What size do you run? On the Rangey I went up from a 55 profile to a 65, which looked and ran alot better, although the auto-box changed slower...

    Hello!

I went for the TDi... I have some reservations, but to be honest, I have been looking for weeks and had a bit of trouble finding a good clean low-miler V8. The 800-mile round trips to Scotland (we do a couple per year) were pretty lumpy with the old V8, so that was a factor. I've read up on...

    Hello!

Hello to everyone. After two Range Rovers I have decided to try out a Disco. I've just traded in my trusty (!) P38 for an '03 Discovery-2 with 46k on the clock. She's a facelift model, very clear all over (as you'd expect on this mileage) although she does look as if she's been sitting around...

    Fairwell P38...

Well guys, I've finally done it. Decided to trade in my '99 4.6 HSE P38 for an '03 plate Discovery 2 TDi ES with 46k miles on it. I will really miss the old gal who has been as reliable as could be after I spent a few hundred quid on patching her up and converting to coils... Don't think I've...

    Classic Rangie - Offroading

Off that - just caught the thread below which answered my question!

    Classic Rangie - Offroading

Sorry to sound stupid here, but with a VC and no diff-lock, and no ETC obviously, what happens if a wheel gets stranded? Won't it just spin round?

    Classic Rangie - Offroading

Spud - thanks for the techie info - I think you are right about the carbs. Don't think they are ever used now because of the emissions rules and I haven't looked at any since I had a bike abt 5 years ago. You can **** around for hours trying to get them right. This one does have VC so that...
