    Td4 Fuel Pressure Problem... HELP!

"Which of the 3 wires should I take the reading from and what should the typical voltages be?" Connect multimeter between battery neg and blue/black cable (connector clean and pushed firmly onto HP sensor, you will have to probe into the connector) Ign on (position 2) 0.5v approx Engine...

    Td4 starting... to annoy!

"Not actually sure if volts goes up or down when fuel pressure drops" The voltage signal seems to be directly proportional to fuel pressure e.g. rising voltage = rising pressure. Unplugging the LP pump whilst the engine is running causes a reduction in voltage until the engine stops at...

    Td4 Fuel Pressure Problem... HELP!

"I disconnected the green fuel pressure sensor connector at the end of the rail (This is where I had the tuning box plugged in, but removed it as soon as the problem 1st ocurred in case that was the fault" The 'tuning box' changes the voltage signal from the high pressure sensor which causes...

    Td4 starting... to annoy!

The pressure sensor voltage signals were taken from 2 TD4s, both running well and the engines were warm when testing. I would recheck the injectors.

    Td4 starting... to annoy!

You certainly don't deserve this hassle after the work you've put in: We took some some signal voltage readings in the early days just in case of future problems, maybe this can help? High pressure sensor (battery end of fuel rail) Voltmeter connected between blue/black wire and battery...

Indicators making other electronics go down - weird one!

Is it easy enough to dismantle the covers and put them back on? With respect: If you're asking that question I would suggest seeking advice from your local garage.

    Turns over but doesn't start

Hi, Sounds like the pump on the inner wing next to the fuel filter is now giving up. Probably 'rocking the car in gear' is enough to kick it into life. Open the bonnet and ask an assistant to turn on ignition, if the pump is silent give it a sharp tap, if the pump now works then the engine will...

    Egr Blanking Mod failed MOT

Sounds like the tester is being a bit pedantic. The diesel emissions test is only concerned with the density of the exhaust smoke and the equipment used currently has no facility to measure NOX output from the engine (reduction of which is one of the purposes of the EGR valve). Because of the...

    New to Freelander world

Hi, Mileage? Any service history? Are you tackling your own maintainance? It's an awesome engine and deserves the best oil and filter. Absolutely vital that the 'engine breather' (real name- crankcase depression limiting valve) is checked and renewed if clogged. Consider bypassing the EGR...

    Freelander TD4 intermitent starting fault

This pump tends to give problems whatever the engine temperature and can usually be brought to life with a sharp tap whilst the ignition is turned on thereby proving whether it is at fault.

    Injector leak results

The injectors can sieze in the head. A good soak with penetrating oil for a few hours beforehand can save a lot of time.

    New air filter, lost power??

Assuming TD4? A new air filter shouldn't cause power losses. However it might be worth checking that the small diameter vacuum pipe has not been crimped where it passes very close to the air filter housing.

    gutted td4 nightmare

Sounds like it needs a good blast to blow the cobwebs away. Land Rovers thrive on hard work.

    gutted td4 nightmare

The Land Rover may have been standing idle for some time whilst up for sale. This does cause problems for any vehicle.

Automatic door locking - Is it possible?

O.K in UK but in more volatile locations throughout the world, you may survive the impact but you certainly would not survive being shot in the face by an assailant who simply opened the door.

Automatic door locking - Is it possible?

The inertia switch will unlock the doors in the event of an impact. However this function is usually disabled when there is a high risk of potential hijackers simply ramming the vehicle to gain entry.

Automatic door locking - Is it possible?

Hi, We use modules from 'TOAD' alarms to achieve this function on some of our vehicles. You might try their website for info.

    Electric Window problems

Hi, The latest diagram I have is for 02 model year. Window fuses:f26 f27 and f31 are all shown as 20A. Might be an idea to check with LR to ensure correct fuse is fitted?

Freelander tail door windown on armored cars

Hi Bruno, My approach would be to disconnect the CCU outputs to tail door window motor relays and tail door wiper relays this would allow the CCU to think it had disabled those functions. A simple micro switch operated by the tail door handle could be wired to the window relays to 'drop' the...
