Gentlemen I previously posted the above question and got a productive response but as pointed out I did not include any pics so now I will. I would appreciate any tips or ideas how to fix this or is it just knackered?

Thanks guys I can not afford a chassis swap at the moment so it looks like a welder for approx £200 if I can get one that will do the job for that

Many thanks I will have a look at the parts available as I did not realise you can buy sections. I will post some pics after I visit the landy again at the moment its only at weekends as it is not at home. Can anyone suggest a mig welder that will not break the bank?

Hope some one can shed some light. just started taking my 1988 90 apart with the intention of ending up with a half decent landy but after taking the rear tub off the chassis looks very rusty on the back end. it has had a new rear crosmember but there are a few holes around the top of the shock...

Many thanks for the advice gentlemen I think I will bolt the rear axle on and maybe strip the swivels from the RR axle and put them onto my 90 axle. sounds simple but no doubt will result in a couple of temper tantrums and a visit to the pub before sheer determination cuts in.

so I could just change the whole axle no problem, just have to remember if i break a half shaft? Thought about changing the front as my swivels on one side are worn but excellent on the rr axle.

I know this is a stupid question but is the rr front axle a lot different to a 90?

What is the difference between a 10 spline and a 24 spline? would I need to change anything else?

Yes as are numbers on the axles etc vehicle was hpi ok everything looks as it should including the vin plate

How can you tell its a defender 200tdi
