Well with much swearing and two burnt finger tips I have finally managed to change the small broken spring over (setting 1). The others still work so wont replace them but seriously think I need to learn how to solder properly.

Good post. Just ordered some replacements for mine since number 1 setting never worked. I suppose its worth changing all three just in case the other go at a later date?

Sadly never got it fixed just sealed it shut with waterproof duck tape which is holding so far.

I know there some law staying you cant fit bull bars/brush guard on more modern cars but can you retro fit brush guard to a 1998 FL1 if you have a Mantec sump guard fitted?] If you can anyone know which ones fit best?

Just wandering if its worth getting a de-cat pipe for my 1.8 Freelander when I fit the new midsection or would it make very little difference going through standard exhaust?

When I bought my Freelander 1.8 XEi it had just had a Rover 75 K-series engine fitted to replace the original blown one. Now I'm wandering what other engines fit the Freelander 1 if the engine blows again? I did think about fitting a diesel lump but would be too much cost so what other petrol...

Thanks for advice but I know its the IACV since it goes back to normal running once taken out and cleaned. Just thought rather than taking it out to clean each time just a fit a newer one.

Well the IACV has started playing up again so wondering where is the best place to buy a new one since nothing comes up when I google it?

Yep definitely inlet heater hose. Now have it booked into Garage for Friday since even if I order the parts wont be till at least Friday I can get them. Talk about bloody bad timing since had the car all loaded to head off in the morning for the Wilderness Gather.

Just found the leak. :mad: I think its the inlet heater hose. Is there any special tape I could repair it with or is it a new pipe job to play it safe?

Bugger I was afraid of that. I'll check it over when it is cool in that case to see if I can spot it.

May be a silly question but just got back from the shops and thought I'd open the bonnet to check thing's over before I go away and the expansion bottle is empty but the engine is still hot from driving surely this cant be normal? Could it be since its still hot and under pressure it hasn't...
