I had a stiff and squeaky one as well and just ignored it, then sometime later I couldn't get it into gear. turned out to be the clutch arm. punched right through it had. any way new arm, new clutch, new bearing and no squeak. sorry but I think boguing could be right.

I have just tried to take off my hand brake drum but when I turned the adjuster one way the drum locked up (good) then I turned it the other way and it locked up,only moved the adjuster 1/4 turn either way to lock up the drum. Mid way it is fine (nice and loose) but why is it locking up both ways?

you will find that the two brackets either side of the step, bolt up into the floor, by the sill. the third connection is made with the cross brace between the step and the chasis, which connects to a bolt on the chasis leg.(beyond the tank) hope this helps

it's a 200 TDi 1991 102,000 miles and according to the previous owner has had it's oil changed every 6 months. I have owned it for 10 months and it has had it's oil changed twice since.( it has covered only 2 thousand miles in my owership)

can anyone describe the sound made when the big end bearings are going? I'v had a noise appeare lately, a load knocking, low down on the engine, but only when engine revs are high, not on tick-over. If it is big ends, can they be replaced with the engine in situ?

whilst replacing the shoes on my 90 i noticed that oil was finding it's way onto the inside of the brake backplate it seems to be coming from where the hub meets the backplate, i have checked the old haynes and cannot work out if it is the rear hub seal or the stub axle seal that needs sorting...
