Anyone know where I can source a replacement turbo jacket/shield for a 200tdi?

Hi all, I fancied replacing my turbo shield, it's damaged in parts and has been fixed up by a previous owner, haven't messed about with it myself, I was under the impression they were made from asbestos, though not sure if that's Bollocks. Anyone know where I could get one as they all seem...

    Replacing steering wheel, advice?

Yeh, will need to cut the metal tab down on the new sports wheel. Need to make sure I don't cut too much off. I can see a groove in the blue collar where where the tab would fit, but I'd have to move the collar, which probably isn't advisable. Can do so much repair work and maintenance on the...

    Replacing steering wheel, advice?

Hi all, Just swapping cover the steering wheels. Tired of the tdci style, too big, need more space. Got the 14" sports style. Same spline, just need to know if I have to adjust the blue plastic column or anything around the steering bolt. The new wheel has an indicator cancel tab, but not...

Calling all Landy specialists! Another Rattle!

Yep, done all transmission oils, gearbox fine, transfer box fine, diff pans all level. One thing that isn't, is the engine oil. Just checked it and it's about 15mm over the danger hi mark! I took it in for a coolant flush recently and have just checked the receipt and it said engine oil. I did...

Land Rover Defender Mechanic, Specialist, Repair Shop in Berkshire area?

Hi all, looking for a local repair shop specialising in older Land Roves, mine is 1992. I know they all cost a bomb, my current chap charges around £90 an hour with the vodka and tonic, so cheaper would be ideal. Though happy to pay top notch for stella service of course. I can do mostly...

    Front Propshaft UJ replacement issues?

Thanks all, worked out a treat in the end, stuck my oversized sash clamp in the vice and use it that way to get the opening width as my vice was a tad too small. Found some britpart OEM UJs and it fitted nicely.

    Front Propshaft UJ replacement issues?

This is just the cast number clearly, so not much to go by, it's a 92 defender J plate.

    Front Propshaft UJ replacement issues?

Hi all, So found the problem with the Landy, a lot of play in the front prop, the UJ that goes to the gearbox wasn't in good condition. I have removed old - pictured - and about to replace with new from bearmach based on my model, also got a GKN. However, both UJ are too small. The Original is...

Best Bolts for the Landy, 8.8 or other?

Yeh I heard that, in the areas I used A4-80 I used A2-70 nylock nuts as I read this helps prevent the 'galling' effect. Whether that's true or not, no idea.

Best Bolts for the Landy, 8.8 or other?

Agreed, a little overkill in parts, but I had so many knocking about, can't use them for much else. Ta for the info.

Best Bolts for the Landy, 8.8 or other?

Very quick question,m sure it's been asked and answered many times. I know grade 8 or 8.8 bolts are the best for automotive as they bend or warp as opposed to shear or snap like A2 or A4. I have replace a few bolts with A4-80 here and there, mainly on anti roll bar to chassis mount and the side...

    Snap, Crackle and Pop!

Never greases the swivels, as they were recently replaced front swivels as it was an MOT advisory, got the later one shot without the drain and level plug. I will top up though just in case, but has only done under 3000miles since replacing. I'll do that tomorrow as I have some one shot from...

Fuel Lift Pump Issue and Fuel Guage - Don't Laugh!

My logic exactly, every time I mess about, I get disastrous domino effects. Well, not always. I'll have another play later, it's turning into a Landy maintenance week again. Thanks
