Can you run all 4 wheels lifted?

I've had FL bearing replaced with new (it was an MOT failure), FR was given a clean bill of health and the 2 rears had advisories). I've replaced RL and RR with second hand ones with a warranty from Emmots (I thought they were worth a punt for the few quid they cost). But I can hear a bearing...

    Story so far..... MPG Diesel

I've not being able to find my oil separator. The diagrams in Rave didn't help. I know it must be really obvious to the mechanics out there. I know what the spiral thing looks like, I just don't know where it is! Someone take a piccy for me :)

    Holiday preperations :)

Last time I went on holiday, I had to come here in a panic using a virtually non-existent signal on my mobile to try and find a garage in Dorset to be recovered to. With your help, I got sorted and I am grateful for that. This half term, we are heading up towards the Scarborough area. So, in...

Anyone recommend a 'maintenance' battery charger?

Won't matter as it's not jump starting it. It'll only draw the current the charger is prepared to deliver. A bigger battery will just take longer to charge from flat that's all. Once charged, the maintenance charge will keep it topped up without damaging the plates and battery size won't make a...

Anyone recommend a 'maintenance' battery charger?

The Aldi one is a Ctek copy. I have one. It has a maintenance mode that you can leave connected to the battery indefinitely. I use it on my boat. Google aldi/lidl/ctek and you will see they are almost identical. In fact, those that have taken them apart, say it is the EXACT same board inside. Nik

    Old threads

I know I should check dates, but I keep getting caught out by this: A thread shows up, right at the top, because someone has used the search function, found a thread and placed a comment. I then jump in with my comment. And it turns out the thread is 4 years old!! :) Can threads not "auto...

P38 Diesel Overheating again - Free Lager

Check your rad. There are Chinese copies doing the rounds that don't have a baffle in them. Island 4x4 said they've seen loads without baffles. I had one (not from them) fitted and it didn't have a baffle. Simple test with a £12 usb endoscope or take the rad out and do the marble test. I have...

    Loose wheel nut stud

It is pushed in flat, same as the others. So I guess the spline/thread/whatever must be miss-made. It's tight enough for now. Will I be able to get someone to spot weld it without taking the hub off? Will the heat be so localised that it won't damage anything? tnx Nik

    Loose wheel nut stud

Just replaced both rear hubs, but one of the wheel studs seems to be loose. I can tighten the nut pretty well, but before the torque wrench clicks, it just keeps turning and turning. So, assuming I can get the wheel off, what do I do to fix that? Take it somewhere to be welded? tnx Nik

Diesel P38 radiator baffle or not

It wasn't a make as such, it was a part number as sold by well known suppliers and this was supplied to the garage by a well known supplier. The one I fitted last night was a Nissens one supplied by Island 4x4 and that is fine. Nik

Diesel P38 radiator baffle or not

I spotted that and wondered if that's what the baffle should be fastened to or if that's what the baffle WAS fastened to and it's now in bits somewhere in my cooling system :)

Diesel P38 radiator baffle or not

New rad fitted, it's fine. This is a camera up one end of the old rad and a LED down the other. Very interesting :) Radiator baffle test - using endoscope and torch. - YouTube Nik
