Yeah, I think quite a few on here had mysterious fires shortly after they gave up on the EAS.

    P38A Outstanding Recalls

Probably a mistake. Mine had some so I went down the Stealers and it was to do with the factory fitted Warn winch. Well, there was no sign of 1 ever being fitted so they just corrected it.

    EVOQUE YES or NO

See my post on BMW. Faraday cage blocks any signal from reaching the key as the signal goes through the cage material rather than the interior. Google for pictures of Nikolai Tesla demonstrating a Faraday cage to show how safe his AC electric was. Might have used his Tesla coil.

    EVOQUE YES or NO

What beats me is why it works so far from the car. My mate's Jag has keyless but it only works when you're beside or inside the car. Walk away and it won't start. The bimmer was even more stupid - it tracks the key, not the car. So when he tried to track his car to find out where it had gone it...

    EVOQUE YES or NO

My mate's £30k bimmer was stolen off his drive last week. Bloke in a backpack with an aerial sticking out the top walked past his drive at 1 am. The car lights flashed, the bloke looked around and then just climbed in and drove off. Whoever came up with that keyless crap is a dunderhead. If you...

    EVOQUE YES or NO

One of my cousins has had one for years. I think she might lease it. She seems very happy with it and it has been reliable but then, it is new. What a second hand one with a few miles on the clock would be like, I don't know. I fear all new cars as being over-complicated and costing a fortune to...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

You might as well have put that in Cyrillic script. Broken wire sonewhere in the canbus thingy?

    P38 no crank

Early cars the starter motor shared a big fuse in the fusebox with the EAS pump which was known to blow when the EAS pump jammed. I couldn't believe how stupid they were doing that but later models they split them onto different fuses. It is rare for the starter solenoid to fail on the Bosch...

    P38 no crank

Sounds like engine EMS code is out of whack with that stored in the BECM if it is cranking but not starting. There's a How To in the Technical Archive if you have a Nanocom.

    2.5 ton paperweight??

Fuel flow goes out of range when it shuts off and the control collar is moved to shut the duel off. Note the comments above on modulation being read at idle with engine at normal (warmed up) temperature. I'd be more interested in any faults in the ABS module. If it is a 4W TC model you can...

    2.5 ton paperweight??

Yes, although I would expect a light on the dash. If it is the later car that's good news as it was the pre-98 models that had the dodgy washers in the modulator although the 4W TC ECU is less reliable.

    P38A Glow plug relay fuse

Pretty much 12 amps per glow-plug. So 15 amp wire should do to test one at a time.

    2.5 ton paperweight??

It does sound like the brakes binding on but I cannot believe all 4 calipers are binding. I assume there was no clicking from the dash and the traction control light didn't light up? Thinking dodgy brake switch triggering the brakes. Only other thing I can think of is the brake itself sticking...

P38A On going leak off issue, driving me mad!

It does sound like it is getting hot and going soft but why yours more than anyone else?! Can you get a little cable-tie on the end? Do you still have the plastic plates either side of the rad that funnel the air up the middle?

    Gearbox fault P38?

Does diagnostics give any clues? Don't like the sound of grinding.

P38A Searching for die hard P38 guru - EAS

+1. Car was throwing a fault. The free EAS Unlock software from Storey Wilson might help but it is usually the connector behind the A post or a dodgy heoght sensor, as above. Still, the air-bags probably needed doing and it doesn't hurt to refurb the valve-block once in a while.

    P38A Glow plug relay fuse

Check the rating and Google strip fuse but check the length. 30A probably enough? Or failing that some 30A fusewire might bodge it. As Data says, first need to work out why it blew. If you disconnect all glows, put some fusewire across it and then reconnect one at a time you will hopefully find...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

+1 on that. Main dealers should apply software upgrades at main service points but many don't. As emissions targets get more aggressive many manufacturers have less aggressive profiles for the gearbox change. Mind you, often the changes also soften gear changes. You should be able to see the...
