So, searching in paddocks (selecting "parts" then "defender" then "clutch" and 300tdi) I can see STC8358 or DA5551. If I change the search to disco 300tdi I get the same numbers. But my parts catalog says STC8358 is for LT77 and the part for R380 (what I have) is STC50501. I am confused!

That second link has everything in it, right? So between the two kits everything will be replaced?

No tab at all! And i did have a good look before touching the engine. It is one of the composite gaskets. Looking at paddocks, i can see they have a 1, 2, 3 and 'no dot' gasket. I've checked my cylinder head last night for warping, all is really good and level, no warping, except right...

I am replacing the head gasket. The one that came out was a composite, but had no markings. Do I now need to measur the piston rise to work out what gasket I need, or is there a 'standard' one?

Breather was blocked! Pipe end looked clear, but took the breather off and it was blocked. Replaced it tonight, so hopefully that will have solved the problem!
