    14CUX and speed sensor question

Thanks guys for the info. Of course some engines may well run fine without a speed sensor and that is indeed my experience. However, this time, I am mindful of the fact that Land Rover never fitted bits if they could possibly get away with not fitting them. In this case, they felt it necessary...

    14CUX and speed sensor question

Morning discool, that's the very question that I'm asking The early ones used the cable to run the speedo and provided speed data to the 14CUX ecu. The TD5 defender version supplies info to drive the speedo electronically and provides the TD5 ecu with data (worthy of note is that here is that...

It measures rotations of the transfer box discool, nothing to do with the number of engine cylinders Mo

    14CUX and speed sensor question

I'm putting a 3.9 14 cux V8 in my 90 shortly. I'm using TD5 instruments and speedo transducer YBE100530. Will this transducer produce a suitable speed sensor signal for the ecu ? Mo

    300tdi replacement battery

It's quite common for the terminals on the starter motor to corrode and cause a high resistance in the starter circuit. It's my first call before blaming the battery automatically. HTH Mo

    300tdi 110 overdrive/roamerdrive or disco transfer box.

I tried the 1.2 transfer box on my 200 tdi 90 but I disliked it. Whilst it was good on the motorway it was horrible away from it as it moved 2nd and 3rd gear ratios into the wrong place for driving around town. The overdrive that I fitted after changing back to a 1.4 box is a far better...

Genuine LR Door Seals - is this correct?

I think you should try it with the strikers on first. Genuine seals are recommended by people because they actually seal. Mo

MOT Help on Front Hub Leaking

You need to replace the hub seal, that's where the oil behind the disc is coming from. Check the land that the hub seal runs on, on the stub axle is undamaged, if it is it will quickly destroy any replacement you fit. Oil coming out from behind the drive member dust cap is good, it means that...

Good job, before I push the pistons back in but after I've cleaned them I normally smear some brake fluid on the piston just to lubricate them. HTH Mo

Fitted relays for the headlamps, quite a difference in candle power

Yup, it made a good difference on mine when I did them too with the added bonus that the weak link in the chain, the headlight switch, is now only switching milli amps and so won't melt inside and require replacement. Mo

    Threaded!

Godfrog, to get the plug out you need to exert outward pressure under the head whilst rotating the plug. Try and get something under both sides of the plug head, a couple of screwdrivers or a couple of small cold chisels gently tapped in. You may have to exert more force than you probably think...
