Series 3 Diesel Engine oil drain plug copper washer

If you've still got the old then just anneal it. Heat it with a blowtorch until cherry red, allow to cool and refit. Much cheaper than replacing every time. All you are doing is resoftening the copper so it makes a good seal

    Series IIa restoration

You should expect to pay around £2-2.5k for a rechassis (not including the chassis of course). Then it's down to whatever else you want to do. I would disagree regarding the clutch price at £2-300, if you've split it down to the bare chassis etc, then a clutch should only be an extra hours...

    Series 3 24 spline diff??

You should be able to bolt in a complete 24spline diff from a discovery BUT it will give you 3.5:1 ratio. The thing that makes the ratio is the crown wheel & pinion. I'm pretty sure you would need to change both but I'm a little confused as to what you have at the moment and what you hope to...

How to find VIN without VIN plate!

Pretty sure VIN nos in the recognised standard form didn't come in to effect till 1981 so your chassis number is your VIN unless the vehicle is post 1981 in which case it should have the now familiar 17 character VIN code.

    Series 3 Clutch stuck

Other way to do it is put rear axle on axle stands ensuring wheels are clear of the ground. Start it in 2wd in 2nd or 3rd gear, keep foot on clutch pedal and when the speedo reads 25-35mph stamp on the brake pedal hard, usually frees them off. Might take a few goes......
