Thanks, any idea which fuse is for the rear driving lights? I've seen a few other posts on here with the switch where it looks like it should go in the picture. this is a very early Defender.

Thanks, this is what i've been thinking! Do you know the best way to do this? i thought about swapping the gearbox, or the high/low range box, but i've heard the best way is to swap the Diffs with discovery ones?? Thanks! :)

Thanks, so you reckon it's melted from the heat rather than a more serious problem? That's what i was hoping as well tbh as it's only melted there, nowhere else! intake hose and proper air box is a good idea! will that improve performance?

All i know about the engine in my new landy is that it's a '4L Perkins Engine' - it's also pretty loud, and not very fast! I'm keen for an ID on this engine if anybody can help? also i'd like to make my landy go slightly faster than 50mph, or at least, 50mph with less noise! Short of an engine...

I'm only 21 so don't understand how the 'old style plates' work haha! it starts with A, has three numbers, then three letters ending in D. You're right, it is actually '83. not sure where i got 81 from!

Working under the hood yesterday, I made this rather worrying discovery! I've disconnected the battery and probably won't use the Defender much until i fix this problem. but i'm more worried about how it happened! could it be heat from the exhaust? anybody got any ideas? there's a perkins engine...

Hi All, my front lights work fine (bar an indicator which just needs a new bulb) but my rear lights are a different story... The brake lights are constantly on, but the bulb holders are loose and i think i'll need to replace them as they individually flicker all over the place when driving...

Fair play, i don't know much about all the different models (yet) but that's what it was sold as! what does this look like to you? it looks like it's been chopped and changed a bit to me! but i'm interested on your thoughts :)

Thanks for your help! I managed to sort it in the end, it was the little catch on the body which was too far in, this caused the lock mechanism to only partially lock. Loosening it and pulling it out a little solved the problem :) I took some pictures to show incase anyone else has similar...

Hi everyone! my new(to me) 1981 110 came without a jack or wheel wrench, which i deiscovered when i got a flat on the way home... o_O I'm going to buy all the kit i'll need to replace the wheel in the future, does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Hi All, one of the first things on my snag list after buying a defender 110 is to fix the drivers door lock! (can't lock it) I don't live in the best area and so security is a huge concern! The key on the outside moves the little pin up and down, but it still remains unlocked from the internal...

4 litre perkins engine is all i know about it... i was hoping someone on here would have some info about it! it's got plenty of power! makes a hell of a racket though and 50 is the top speed (requires ear defenders though)
