Give it all a sand and clean. Will be using Hycote plastic primer, although I'm sure any plastic primer will do. Base coat matched to car colour and then a lacquer. Should hold if I do it properly 🤞

I used Aortha Orthabond contact adhesive. Good stuff but you need to work quickly with it. Fabric already came attached to foam, if you need to stick fabric to foam then use a spray adhesive so it doesn't seep through.

I'm painting the handle/pull insert/window buttons tray tomorrow - Cairns Blue to match the exterior, painted the door release today - Gun Metal Grey (not a fan of the LR Champagne Silver). The old fabric on the cards practically fell off. Cleaned the old foam off with a stiff brush. Used the...

I don't think I could face doing it again! Spring is probably a good shout, I did mine on the table in the back garden. Garage was too cluttered (that's a whole other job!).

Just finished replacing fabric on door cards to match roof lining. Tomorrow, spraying the plastic bits and then another job off the list!

If it works for you to do that then why not. It's a big fiddly job, but I think mine was getting beyond anything other than full replacement. 👍

    Freelander 1 TD4 Interior refresh

I took the whole roof panel out, it's on a thin fibreglass board. Getting some of the trim out of the way was a pain. I did it on my own but would suggest you get someone to help take it out and put it back in. Cloth pretty much fell away and then removed the old foam with a stiff brush to give...

Since my 55 plate TD4 has been off the road (MOT failure), I've been carrying out all the necessary repairs - as well as some others that I came across on my travels. One of those was that the roof lining started to sag and got worse by the day. Decided to have a crack myself, what do you think...

    Propshaft repair

Hi All Thanks for your advice. Brute force alone didn't work. Got a gas gun on it, heated it up and then gave it a few more whacks and hey presto!

    Propshaft repair

Yes, as had to replace bearings and UJs, wanted to check it first in case I needed to go for full replacement or I was lucky enough just to replace those bits 👍

    Propshaft repair

Thanks. Not through a lack of trying - as proven by the massive bruised lump on my hand (a mis-timed swing with the club hammer) 🤣🤣 I've left it to soak in WD40 overnight and will go nuclear on it tomorrow.

    Propshaft repair

Thanks for replying. Already tried that, rear came off as easily as the video, front just won't budge from the VCU. Soaked in WD40 to see if that would help but it just won't have it.

    Propshaft repair

Hi All Had a failure on the MOT for the propshaft. VCU is fine but needed to replace universal joints and both centre bearings. Took out the whole thing to work on in the garage to make it easier. Replaced the UJs and the bearing on the rear propshaft no problems - came apart without too much...

Freelander 1 Two Amigos not solved after switch replacement

Hi All Got the dreaded two amigos TC/HDC lights. Took out the brake light switch and opened it up to have a look and one of the contacts inside had snapped/corroded. Fitted a brand new replacement but lights still showing. Should also mention that brake lights are working.

Can anyone identify this electrical plug?

Yeah, at least that's one less issue I have to deal with!

OK, that makes sense. Don't have a sunroof. Thanks for your help, you've saved a lot of head scratching 😄
