Right well front brakes all done. New discs and pads, plus a caliper carrier. Now the bloody rear brakes need to be done. At least I have found a seized caliper pin up front so I can order everything in 1 hit. I hope.

Yep I have decided this morning to buy a new one. This one is well and truly in there and refuses to come out. It has soaked in penetrating oil overnight. I have tried vice/mole grips, stilsons, heat and a combination of all........ Should I got for Britpart or TRW?

Agreed, there are so many that are not properly fixed and devalued by coils and manual pump up kits. The cost of fixing it properly is (in the long term) cheap in comparison to any other option.

just checked the brakes out, man what a difference. Firm and quiet (no hissing from the pedal or ABS whirring away every other press on the pedal. It is looking like the Delphi discs and EBC pads now, best of both worlds.

Will bear Delphi in mind then during my search. I had listed them as an option previously but then lost focus because of the groovy drilled ones. Now I am feet firmly back on the ground with more sensible hat on.....:D

Looking at the opinions on cross drilled and grooved discs I am going to steer clear of them. Especially when you read EBC's article on their web site regarding them. Pretty scary. You may be about to get them cheap but no thanks.... I am sticking to EBC all around, discs and pads.

Discs not scored, pads not scored. Not even noticeable ridges over the wear area. Fine and smooth. I was guessing on the pad thickness left at a glance with poor light, could be 5mm or more. The rim of the disc has an approx 1mm overhang either side. I guess this is scoring, but it is...

Yes the front and rear booster nipples (oo err) are a pain to get to. Very frustrating design. I will test drive as soon as the battery is back to life.

Changed the brake fluid and it seems to be mostly successful. Used Mobil DOT4 and a Gunson pressure jobby. Other than not tightening the cap down and losing a load of new fluid to the driveway, the Gunson worked well. Cleaned it up from chassis rail and radius arm. Bled as per RAVE...

You mean fitting a new thermal switch, a piece of good quality gasket material and an upgraded bearing? :confused: The original bearing is simply terrible, no wonder these things fail the design itself is a reasonable one, ruined by a bodge job on the bearing design.
