Evening,
I need to replace the clutch master cylinder, the new one is leaking after less than a year of service.
Has anyone replaced it without first removing the pedal box?
Cheers,
Mike.
I did mine with the Halfrauds 'EZChill' 134. I got £10 quid back after I had recharged mine and a mates Micra. They don't refill it for you, just sell you another...
Did mine this summer. Did the DMF and rear crankshaft oil seal also as I had a small sump gasket leak that needed
doing. Also replaced the clutch master and slave and refurbed the pedal box too. Was nice to have a look in the bottom of engine
as mine had done 115K, and cleaned the sump. Actually...
Mine turned out to be water getting into the airbox. Probably via the ill fitting pipe work between the wing inlet and airbox.
There were tide marks inside the airbox! And I hadn't been wading either. Removed and binned all the crap OEM bits and replaced with
snorkel and properly sealed...
If you already have 18V Makita stuff this is a bargain. 440Nm currently £185 on Amazon.
Comfortably does wheel nuts, flywheel bolts etc. Was invaluable when I did my new clutch and
Defender to Disco transfer box ratio swop.
Spare wheel on the bonnet is the future...Mine is a standard TD5 bonnet with some unistrut reinforcements
and a modded back door wheel mount. 255-85 MTs bit heavy mind but cheaper than gym membership.
Stock boost pressure on a Defender is 15PSI. I have tweaked mine to give just a bit less than 20. Anything more risks
overboost and limp mode for a stock ECU / MAP.
Bought the 1.2 transfer box final drive kit from Ashcroft's along with a new DMF flywheel and clutch kit. Great price for the flywheel and clutch kit, £400ish
instead of ~£1400 from the stealer. The parts were Valeo same as the OEM stuff that they replaced. 1.2 is great in my 110 aswell. A+ for...
Wasted a couple of litres of fluid bleeding the clutch when nothing was wrong as I couldn't believe I was able to easily press the clutch with my hand. Having stripped/cleaned/greased all the clutch hardware as well as fitting new slave and master cylinders as part of fitting new clutch and...
Cheers James, testing it by hand on prop' flanges and gearbox input shaft. Just about to go and see if I have put a long bolt where I shouldn't have.
Thanks for the quck response, I'll keep you posted,
Mike.
Hi all,
Putting my gearbox and transfer box back together after seal replacements and new clutch etc. Spun the transfer box in high and low all seems ok. Now I have the boxes mated together the transfer box seems locked in high or low but not neutral.
Diff lock seems to make no...
Cheers Shifty,
Yes I have overlooked fluids, I'll get some MTF and brake fluid on order. What oil for the transfer box?
Manual says Texaco multigear 75W-90R, I think I used EP 80-90 last oil change but can't remember now...
