What have you done to your Landie today.

:hysterically_laughi And anyway, I thought it was meant to go better with the cat removed .....

What have you done to your Landie today.

What have I done to my Landy today? I measured up for some lockable boxes for the load area (I'll probably go for a BareBox) and given further thought to fitting CP to the rear door to conceal the bubbling, helped by forum members hereabout. I fitted a new acoustic pad to the engine and...

    Hello from North Wales

Hi Nick. Welcome! I hail from the Wrexham area (Rhos actually) ... but now live in Hampshire so am probably bugger all use to your organisation, mate. Sorry :o It's a grand job that you do BTW. PS. I think the Dragons have blown their chance of promotion this time haven't they. Hey ho

    Chequerplate (again)

Thanks for the helpful comments, folks. The CP solution would be considerably cheaper than a door replacement and, IMHO, easier than rubbing down and respraying the existing mess (only to have to do it again and again, probably). I am now clearer about the effects on the spare wheel carrier...

    Chequerplate (again)

Nice workshop, Clanforbes! I eckon that The Bus is an example of chequerplate put to good use. [Mr Google informs me that I can't afford to get my own plasma cutter (have you seen the current prices?:screaming_bug_eye_f) but maybe that's something to work towards, perhaps to share the costs...

    Imobiliser Fobs

UPDATE Right ... it seems that my Landy is fitted with an aftermarket Autowatch alarm/immobiliser. With the help of my friend Google, I have located a supply of remote fobs (at £40 a go from Autowatch) and have downloaded the relevant instructions for programming it etc. All I need to do now...

How to hand paint a landy(with pictures)

Just two days into my membership and I've just read this thread. Excellent stuff! This is going to be useful to me in the future. Thanks for kicking it off, landrover11019,and for all the fine photos. Good advice from everyone else too. It seems to me that as long as you have an idea of what...

    What-ho, chaps!

Ta for the welcome. :) Point taken regarding security, too, crashbox. In addition to the alarm/immobilier, I'm currenty using a 'Strongarm' crook-lock and am about to buy one of those clutch lock thingies (can't find the link right now but it got a good write-up in one of the Landy mags). It's...

    Chequerplate (again)

Good point, Karlos. I'm thinking of getting one of the pre-shaped panels, eg. LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 110 REAR DOOR CHEQUER PLATE KIT- on eBay (end time 17-May-11 08:52:47 BST) for about 40 quid plus P&P. They also do panels for the inside. (No connection with the seller, BTW)

    Imobiliser Fobs

Thanks Shifty - a useful link, duly bookmarked for future use. Just a thought: being an '01 Defender 90 TD5, I wonder if mine would have had remote central locking as standard or was it an option? If so, I wonder if my after-market fob has somehow been twinned with the OEM alarm/immobiliser...

    Chequerplate (again)

Clanforbes: thanks for your helpful post! That's what I was looking for - the voice of experience. :) As for the appearance of chequerplate on my rear door, it's a personal thing I know. It's MY Landy and if I like it then that's all that matters, eh? (Er, I meant if I and the...

    Imobiliser Fobs

Thanks Shifty (and Dave). I have the exact same problems on my recently acquired TD5. Regarding the fob, mine has two buttons - a large one which locks/unlocks the front doors and a small one (which doesn't seem to do anything). It also has a blue LED that lights when activated (one on the fob...

    Chequerplate (again)

The rear door of my TD5 is bubbling up (you know what I mean) and I was wondering if anybody has fitted chequerplate to cover the entire door (well, as far up as the window anyway). Any comments or advice please? What about refitting spare wheel mounts afterwards - any snags? (I have Searched...

    Ongoing work

Typical! After really getting into this story (it's my first day as a forum member) it's over! Bravo, Mr Wilde, Sir! What a stonkingly good journal of Land Rover ownership and fettling. It's made me feel motivated to tackle a few jobs on mine that I would not normally have even dared to take on...

    What-ho, chaps!

I'm just doing the decent thing and introducing myself before I set about picking everyone's brains! I'm Keith and I hail from the Sunny Sarf (Hants to be precise) I've recently persuaded SWMBO - at last - that I do actually 'need' a Defender. This follows about 30-odd years of lusting after...
