Got the same on my 90!! Prop shaft uj's, had the exact same problem on my discovery and there was such a small amount of play in the joints I thought it couldn't be. It was and surprised me how much vibration was caused.
As you say do the checks with both props off
I fitted the spring to my 04 td5, it did make a noticeable improvement!! It was a doddle to fit, press the bushes in, pedal pressed all the way to the floor and pop the spring in!!!!!
It's only when cold and is bad when its revved. The best way to pull away is using the anti stall trying to let the clutch out quick but not touch the accelerator.
It's a local garage but too much time has elapsed.
I bought a td5 defender a few months back, it had a new clutch and fly wheel 4-5k previous to me buying.
I have noticed a judder on take up over the past few weeks is this normal? The damp seems to affect it too, once it's nice and hot it's fine.
