Should I buy this 110 hardtop 2.5 T/D? (Pics, link)

Not really - easiest way is to swap over the TD loom to the Tdi engine. Or if you're handy with the electrical tools you could make your own without too much trouble.

    Squiddy's Series 2A

Once the chassis is all painted up, the next "goal" is to build up a rolling chassis again. So that means stripping and rebuilding both axles. I've always said there's no target date for getting this back on the road - it'll happen when it happens. :)

Should I buy this 110 hardtop 2.5 T/D? (Pics, link)

As for cost - I didn't buy a complete donor Disco, but I did get "everything under the bonnet", for around £350 if I recall correctly. That meant that as well as the complete engine, I got all the various hoses and pipes, wiring loom, etc. as you need bits and pieces to get all the ancilliary...

Your thoughts on the 2.5td 19j engine??

Erm... are you sure? I'm pretty sure that's not what an intercooler does! :)

Should I buy this 110 hardtop 2.5 T/D? (Pics, link)

I'd never done an engine swap before I changed my TD to a 200tdi. I did it on my own over a few days after reading the excellent threads on here. The only thing I wasn't sure about before I started was the cutting and welding of the radiator brackets as I'd never welded before - but as it turned...

Whats the difference between a 2.5 TD and a 200Tdi?

No, it'd be pretty boring if everyone was as humourless as you.

Heated door mirrors on a fender?

Yeah, it took me a little while to do it - but the end result was definitely worth the effort. Glad I didn't do the bodge-job with wires on show.

Should I buy this 110 hardtop 2.5 T/D? (Pics, link)

Be prepared to swap out the 2.5TD for a 200/300 tdi (as per your other thread). No immediate rush, but at those miles I'd be thinking sooner rather than later. Apart from that, the usual stuff applies. If the chassis and bulkhead are solid, I'd buy it. If either needs lots of work, I'd walk...

Whats the difference between a 2.5 TD and a 200Tdi?

'zactly. I can't believe nobody has said "Search FFS" :p - must be getting mellow in our old age! Loads of topics on the 2.5TD engine and associated problems. And many more on replacing the 2.5TD with a 200/300 tdi. Ian.

Heated door mirrors on a fender?

Yep. You'd never know they're heated now - stealth installation and all that :D

Gutted for you, mate. Will obviously keep my eyes peeled and have passed the info on to my mates around here too.

    light bar

^^^^^ wot he said. The bars themselves are usually no higher than the roof itself - so if you mount the lights below the bar, nothing will stick up higher than the vehicle.

Defender 110's - tell me more!

You can get a seat of MUD seat rails which will give you more legroom - especially if there is no bulkhead directly behind the seat. Exmoor Trim also make the rails, and if you're feeling creative you could probably make your own with some box section steel.

    Squiddy's Series 2A

lol - yeah, must be an optical illusion from using a wide-angle lens. The outriggers on that side have all been replaced at some point in the past, but everything fitted when I took the Landy apart so I'm not gonna start worrying that things don't line up! As for those tulips - they grow up...

    200TDi Swap Concerns

Yep, sounds like your clutch isn't lining up properly. Don't force it - you'll knacker something. Get a jack under the gearbox so you can raise and lower it. Also, a load-leveller on the engine hoist will help. I tried for hours to get mine to go in - eventually took it out as I was convinced...

    Squiddy's Series 2A

!!!Dodgy welding alert!!! Don't shoot me - welding isn't my strong point. :o I managed to get some time to work on the chassis today. There were three holes that needed fixing (there may be more, that's all I've found so far). Front nearside dum-iron Nearside bulkhead outrigger...

Did a spot of repair work on the Series chassis - almost ready to paint it.
