Is there anything holding the rear springs in, other than the weight of the car?

Quite a lot of lanes around the south hams, I would start with an O/S map, you can soon spot the lanes on there.

What is the likely cause of not being able to select low range in a 95M auto p38? Is it a soliniod on this model? I'm guessing that if low is not used then something will seize causing the solinoid to blow. If this is the case, how easy is it to get to.
