series 2 v8 auto 2000 plate cuts out

Your Land-Rover is unnecessarily complicated. To solve the problem, get rid of it and buy a proper series 2 from the good old days before all these stupid lambda sensors, immobilisers and ECUs!

    Series 2A military ambulance

Using a 109 filler seems like a good plan. Is there enough room on that angled panel I wander? I might put mine just behind that panel and link upto the the fuel tank by welding together various bits of scrap exhaust pipe with a rubber pipe at either end

    Series 2A military ambulance

Fitting bucket seats will cause some problems because the seat base cushions need to be removed to get access to the fuel tank filler cap - handy that. I'm planning on relocating the fuel filler cap to a more convinient location and using a civilian fuel tank.

    Half Shaft or Diff?

Much neater design on the military hubs. The civilian top hats are too easily knocked off.

    Half Shaft or Diff?

Hopefully it's not an outer half of one of the halfshafts thats broken. I'd imagine those are a bit rare, though you could convert it to the civilian type I suppose.

    series 3 Inner wings

Those brackets spotwelded to the underside of the wings do tend to corrode away. There might be enough left of it left to drill a couple of new holes with matching holes drilled into the mudshield. Otherwise a few rivets on the wing top don't look too out of place unless it's a super original...

    green lanes in wales

Get Landranger OS map 170. There are a few BOATs either side of the Afan valley. Just east of Aberdulais you've got the start of Sarn Helen, which I think is still open during the months of June, July and August to Dyffryn Cellwen. I think the other sections of Sarn Helen are closed now...

    Half Shaft or Diff?

Have you got free wheeling hubs. If so then if your lucky one of those has gone wrong. If not then it would be worth removing both hub drive flanges to see if the splines have broken. You never know it could be something that simple. With the hub flanges off you would probably be able to...

    Series 2A military ambulance

The rear body looks pretty solid to me - I think it would keep it's shape much better than a normal Land-Rover in a roll. But on the other hand it's more top heavy so more likely to roll! Just tell her it came fitted with solid wood seats as standard, but just to keep her happy, you've...

Could you re drill your drop plate to suit the NATO hitch bolt pattern?

Length of load space in Series II

There's no easy answer to this question, because of the shape of the bulkhead at the front of the loadbed. I think most if not all Land-Rovers have a spare wheel mounting bracket fitted to the bulkhead which takes up some space, though it can be unbolted. and there may be seat belt mounting...

I mean short weelbase or long wheelbase series II?

    Potentially dumb first thread

Comparing a 200Tdi 110 with a 2 1/4 petrol 109 doing 3000 miles P/A, you'd probably spend about £300 more each year on fuel with the 109. But if the 109 was tax exempt then you'd save £190 per year. The 2 1/4 petrol engines are far simpler than a 200Tdi - no turbos, oil coolers, intercoolers...

    Series 2A military ambulance

Agreed... If I was starting from scratch I would do it differently, but it seems a shame to go chopping it about because the crafsmanship is so good. The chap I bought it off used it to tow his hillclimb car to events. The whole family of 3 children and 2 adults would squeeze in there (the...

    Special tool 600300

It seems a bit of a waste to go gutting up a socket. If you have a welder, what about finding a piece of pipe of the correct diameter and cut slots into that, then weld a big nut onto the other end. Not a nice way to do it, but I'd guess that many people use a hammer and chisel on that nut.

    New website of my 109

I repainted mine in sandglow, which has a Land-Rover paint code of LRC361. This colour was used on Range Rovers and BL cars in the 70s and was the colour the Camel Trophy vehicles were painted. I think it was used on some export series Land-Rovers too.

    Series 2A military ambulance

I have a Marshal military ambulance. I bought it already converted to a camper: The woodwork needs tidying up a bit and the cushions need to be reupholstered, but not bad for £500 I thought. New chassis and bulkhead on it too. Just wish I had the time to finish it off:mad: I wander what...
