    Anyone have a 200di series 3 ?

I've just been doing a bit of gooling and found this: Lightweight Land Rover Club • View topic - Diesel engine conversion.. Even if I'm right about this, I suppose it's swings and roundabouts, whether you go for a 2.5NA or a 200di - The 200di will go straight onto standard chassis...

    Back door spare wheel

I just repaired the steel frame on mine with some steel sections I shaped myself, and a mig welder. The point I was making is that a rotten rear door will not do well with a spare wheel on it. So if the door is repairable and you have the time, tools and skills to do the job, then why not...

    Anyone have a 200di series 3 ?

So does Spyderman have the proper Land-Rover 2.5NA engine with the sealed timing case in his series III, and did it go onto the standard chassis engine mounts?

    Anyone have a 200di series 3 ?

I'm not 100% sure of it, 'cos I don't have any experience with the 2.5 NA engine, but I have read several times that it's necessary because of the low mounting of the fuel pump - perhaps it's a myth. What I've heard is that a derivative of the 2.5NA Land-Rover diesel engine fitted to a Sherpa...

    Back door spare wheel

I've been keeping the spare wheel on the rear door for years (7.50x 16). Somebody slammed it shut 15 years ago and the glass shattred, but I replaced the horizontal bar below the glass (which was completely rotten) and stiffened it up in a few other areas and it's been good ever since. It's...

    Anyone have a 200di series 3 ?

Don't you need to relocate the offside chassis engine mount with the Land-Rover 2.5 NA diesel? No need for that with the 200Di. The 200Di should be more economical as it's a direct injection type while the 2.5NA is indirect. Agreed it's worth keeping the turbo though as long as you can spare...

    Anyone have a 200di series 3 ?

I have a 200Tdi in my 88" Series III with the turbo and intercooler. I've beed using it as my daily drive for the past 6 months. With 80% more power than the standard diesel engine, the vehicle is transformed. It's fun having the extra power - 200 ftlbs of torque and rear wheel drive can make...

    Pro Comp Shock absorbers

I think you're right to be concerned about the length of the shocks. With the parabolics the lower shock mountings are higher than standard because there are fewer leaves. Take some measurements and work out what the shock length will be when the suspension is fully compressed with the axle on...

    Peak district...

I've heard lots of good things about the lanes in the Peak District. I've never been there so I'm up for coming along if there is space left in the group. 1. Duky Disco 2. Fenby1976 3. 4. 5.

The bonnets with the curved front edge are known as deluxe bonnets. I believe they were optional on SIIIs. I wander if they were optional on SII/SIIAs too?

    2.25 petrol to 200tdi

I would not go taking notches out of the chassis rail in order to clear the turbo on a Disco 200Tdi engine - it will weaken the chassis. A Defender 200Tdi engine is the best solution, but I think quite tidy job could be done using a Disco 200Tdi engine. I know somebody who has installed one of...

Why is my landy running so hot?

I've found some more info here: Classic Mini Cooper - Voltage Stabilizer - www.MiniMania.com It has some useful fault finding tips too. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual is misleading. It shows the regulator as a 2 terminal device. It does only have 2 spade connector terminals...

Why is my landy running so hot?

Why is my landy running so hot?

You might be getting a false reading on your temperature guage. A crude voltage regulator is used for the temperature and fuel level guages. With the ignition turned on measure the output voltage of the regulator. If it's working properly then the voltage should switch periodically between 0...

    Naughty Boys??

My opinion is that all of Sarn Helen should have been made a BOAT. Series III front brakes

Do you have a servo? Could that have somehow gone wrong and be pulling the brakes on? Disconnecting the vacuum pipe to the servo and then testing the brakes with the engine running could prove or disprove that theory.

    Soundproofing your Series

I don't have any sound proofing fitted at the moment, but when I had a Transit engine in my SIII it was a must. I used some old carpet and underlay which made a big difference to the noise levels, but looked ****, soaked up water, went rotten and made the Landy stink. I find the 200Tdi engine...
