Classic rover V8 cylinder head height

Hi, after surfacing my heads (to clean the old gasket marks) i found these measures : 23,30 mm (+ 0,1mm / 0,5 mm max. skimming ) 62,80 mm ( + 0,2 mm / 0,5 mm max skimming) Should i put a thiker composite gasket instead a metal one ? the gap can be fill with shim on rockers ?

the heads were already skimmed 10 years ago.I check with a plate and 0,05mm gauge, seem ok. i have to sand the inlet manifold too... should i stay with 400 paper or finish with 800 ? i have a metal gasket. Thanks.

the old seal has left marks...do i need to remove all before setting new gasket ? I use sand paper on a glass to remove these marks but i dont want to remove too much material; Is that enough like this ? Plus, I notice i remove more on the sides than in the middle , the head is not perfectly...

The shells seems to be good enougth (colour effect for the bronze) as the rings! I follow the manual for the oil ring : Position the oil control piston rings so that the ring gaps are all at one side, between the piston pin and piston thrust face. Space the gaps in the ring rails approximately...

Here i the piston 8 : rings are good. I notice very little pieces of metal, probably the chinese camshaft sitting since 10 years ...so littel scratchs on the piston too (i can not feel them with the nails). I don t want to remove the block. I wonder if i should hone the bore (with good...

Classic Vertical ridge on cylinder wall

Yes the truck was standing (or drove very little in ten years) after the engine was partially rebuilt (new rings , bores honing, rods, camshaft). I open it because of injectors leaking (gasoline smell in the oil), this must explain the marks on the cylinders wall (almost the 8 ). I intended to...

Classic Vertical ridge on cylinder wall

The truck hasn't been driven much in ten years, after replacing the rings and honing the bores. I opened because I had gasoline in the oil (leak from the injector ...) and i suspect a manifold leaking too. Then i replace the cam and the lifters as 2 lobes lost material (bad aftermarket camshaft...

Classic Vertical ridge on cylinder wall

Hi , new post for my RRC EFI 3,9 with the good title ;) I have a question and a concern about a vertical mark on one of my cylinders, it is not a scratch, it is extra thick, as if a weld had been made. My compressions are correct (12,5 bars) and the engine is not knocking. Any idea what it...

I cleaned the head pistons. All the cylinders are like that with no marks on the top.
