    Fatality near Mold

I have just learnt of a tragic accident very close to where I live. I don't have much information on it, but it appears a 4x4 on a local lane to me came into difficulties and rolled down a hill. It is a reminder of the potential dangers we all face. I know I become very complacent, this is a...

    Internal roll bar

Has anyone fitted an internal single loop to a discovery behinde the front seats, perhaps with a support bar partially blocking the rear doors? I would like to have some form of protection incase I roll the car, but I dont want to go the whole hog and fit a full external roll cage. Any thoughts?

    Silverstone MT117 Sport

Hi All, Has anyone had any experience with this tyre. More interested in its off road abilities than anything. How does it handle in the mud etc. Its the Sport tyre I am interested in and not the extreme. I am looking at the 285 75 16 tyre. Does anyone know the tread depth? Thanks Steve

    green laning near merseyside

Just wondering, how often you check your lanes with the ROW officer? Most lanes with a TRO on them are more often than not noted on Trailwise, and the information is readily available. Yes, I agree, you should check with the RoW officer, but this isnt always practical and I am sure most dont...

    Chester area stuck

Weird, the first I heard of this was through a mate of mine telling me someone was stuck on that Lane! I see my name was mentioned but I had no text! I know that Lane very well. I also know that there is a farmer that digs it up to make it impassable. Is there a reason I didn't receive...

    Anyone been to Silverdale 4x4?

Just goT back from here. Brilliant site. Very eventful day for our group. Ended up drawing my friends lightweight around for a good part of the day and one of the defenders in the group had a little fall on to its side. No one hurt tho so all was good. Next time I go, I will have some...

    Idle control valve stepper motor

I have now changed the idle control valve. It idles nicely whilst running on petrol, no problems. Running on LPG is a different story. Whilst stationary, it idles nicely, but when the car is moving, the car will idle at below 500 rpm, occassionally lower causing the car to stall. This is...

    Idle control valve stepper motor

Just a quick question. Could a faulty idle control valve be a cause for really poor fuel consumption on a 3.9 efi engine? like 9mpg poor? Would a faulty valve also effect the power output of the engine as well? Cheers

3.9 V8 running issues - cutting out, rough idle and running rich

Thanks for that offer Classic Kev!!! I might take you up on that offer, but I will continue battling for a bit first, as I would hate to waste your time! I actually managed to get the plenum cover off today. The punch idea worked a charm!! Cleaned all that up, but unfortunately hasnt made a...

3.9 V8 running issues - cutting out, rough idle and running rich

That's a clever idea!! Took me a minute to figure out what you meant, but yeah....that makes sense, although they do look fairly tough things to bend, which can only mean one thing.....get out the whopping persuader :-)

3.9 V8 running issues - cutting out, rough idle and running rich

Going to run a load of cleaner through, its a good idea. Been having a play around with it tonight. Took the maf sensor connector of and gave it a good clean, no difference. Took the stepper moto out again and gave it another good squirting. Also gave the housing a good squirt with carb...

3.9 V8 running issues - cutting out, rough idle and running rich

Sorry that was poorly worded. I should have said, whilst the car is out of gear, it will idle slightly irratically and a couple of hundered revs more than if it was in Drive. Whilst in drive, the idle is constant. Right, in that case I wont play about with the stepper motor whilst it is out of...

Thats handy to know, the hinges have just broke on my set, the tools inside the case are great though.

I just noticed, you are only up the road from me as well. Small world!

3.9 V8 running issues - cutting out, rough idle and running rich

I should also mention, that if in gear, whilst stationary, the idle is fairly smooth, sits around the 650 rpm mark. It is idling rough whilst out of gear, and slightly higher rpm.

3.9 V8 running issues - cutting out, rough idle and running rich

A few things to do then!! I have read a couple of threads on how to check the afm, but I have noticed a few differences between them all. I think I will see if I can have a borrow of one and swap it out, see if that makes a difference, possibly easier for me than playing around with my...
