Here is a clip of the track that has not been used for aged, got to have a go at it this on Sunday, I have cut the branches back so I don't scratch my truck (do want to spoil the paintwork now do I. lol) I was up there yesterday: - it's slippery! N44 Davetdi - Whaddon - Jan 12 - YouTube

If you go down to the main water hole turn right, it's in that corner (It's quit marshy) but I'm sure I can get a decent track across there. It crosses the stream then joins the track that goes into the bottom corner that is now re-usable. I had created a map of the site, it's on a word document...

I have walked along part of it and it's between 10 - 12 inches, it feels solid but once on it with a truck it may well sink!!!!!! I have been up there today and cut a path through the swamp, not sure if it's worth trying to make it into a track. Have a look: - Whaddon 16-11-13. - YouTube

    Whaddon

The water is at least 12 inches deep, although it feels quite firm it will sink!!!!!!! I only pulled in a few feet and you see I had 3 gentle attempts to get back out, it needs a few trucks to be winched through to make a nice track. Once this one is bedded in I have another one to try out...

The clip below is of the old section I'm on about, I have cut the branches back and took my truck in as far as I dare whilst on my own! I think this will be a winch challenge section coming in from the other end. Hopefully the tree will be strong enough as an anchor point. Whaddon Winch Section...

I saw somebody being winched out some time ago from the mud pit, being the left turn after the telegraph pole, the section I'm on about is past this point, you continue along the track up the bank where the bushes are you then go right heading towards the corner, to get onto the old track you...

Should have some more rubble put down for the next session, ruts are quite deep as you go left after the main bridge. Just need filling in a bit to give std trucks a chance to get up there. I'm looking to open another old track, it's approx 500 ft long with approx 10 inches of water, the bottom...

It's over the main bridge in the top left hand corner. Here's an old clip of the water splash, I came in from the other way and got to the end, but it was too deep and would not pull through to start the climb out Whaddon Water Splash June 2012 - YouTube

    Whaddon

The watersplash that runs along side of the woods was deeper than the main water hole! My truck did not make it through, I was lucky and managed to reverse it out, it coughed and spluttered and had very little power, but it cleared and continued to run, Lucky I didn't bend the rods.

Cheers Jai, It sounds like I should sell the P38 diffs and have mine rebuilt using the uprated HD R & P and have if pegged for £485 - or the cheaper option is £385 for pegged & std R & P.

Pinion bearings collapsed in the Salisbury axle so will require Bearing, pinion & crown wheel. Prob a couple of reasons why these gave way: - Didn't have correction arms on at the time Using the front prop of a discovery (may be a tad too long) also not wide angle but did not bind. Didn't...

I went for the Fedima tyres for ground clearance as the Salisbury diff was catching with the 31" tyres I use to run on. I was at Whaddon yesterday and there are some deep ruts leading up to the bank where the mud pits are, the standard axles diff was nearly catching as I went up there.

Fitted another starter motor today, alternator, rear diff & CV joint a few weeks ago. Even the salisbury axle didn't last 6 months! Been reading up about fitting the P38 4 pin hub into the 300 diff housing.

Been up Whaddon today with Neil, more repair work to the top marsh, filled the deep ruts in that was cut out during the last session. If you are thinking of going around the bottom corner tomorrow then ensure you have good clearance, I made it up there with my 35" Fedima's (Neil did not), I...
