    Park Brake Adjustment confusion.

I used to have to strip and refurb the handbrake drum every year before MOT I expect mainly because of light off road and wading but I don't think they are great anyway. If you plan to keep the vehicle for many years I would recommend getting an x-brake conversion which is a heavy duty disk...

2.5 Rear Crank seal changed now leaking

Just received the genuine Dowty seal from Turner Engineering and you can really see the difference in quality even the fitting sleeve is much better. Also it comes with fitting instructions which states as you said DO NOT LUBRICATE. One thing though on the instruction states press seal onto...

2.5 Rear Crank seal changed now leaking

Thanks so if I get a 200tdi gasket it will fit my 2.5NA. Would it be worth using some gasket sealant as well as the gasket then? It did always leak slightly down the back of the housing I always though it was the sump gasket.

2.5 Rear Crank seal changed now leaking

There was no gasket I checked in the land rover manual and it says use silicon sealant. I checked on removal of the housing and this had made a good seal no evidence of leaking past. In fact I ended up using silicon on starter motor / clutch cylinder / clutch bellhousing to flywheel housing as I...

2.5 Rear Crank seal changed now leaking

8ha Good idea would save a lot of work I am doing it with the engine in so should be easy enough to run once I get the flywheel back on. I have the sump resting on blocks so just need to make sure they don't rattle free. Cheers

2.5 Rear Crank seal changed now leaking

I fitted it into the flywheel housing first, put the nylon fitting sleeve into the seal with a bit of oil on it and then installed the plate onto the engine block. I must admit it did give more resistance than I thought it would when pushing over the fitting sleeve.

2.5 Rear Crank seal changed now leaking

Just changed my rear crank seal while I was changing the gearbox for a recon. I changed it for the same type that came off that was the Dowty seal type which had a nylon sleeve to assist fitting. Got it all back together and the new seal was p***ing oil out. Just got the gearbox off again and...

    Ongoing over-heating problems with 2006 Defender 110 300tdi....

My defender 2.5na overheated when I bought it the needle always in the red. Over time I changed the water pump, flushed out the radiator, changed the thermostat, new sensor to the block and even changed the the temp gauge on the dash all had no effect. Basically I gave up and just drove it with...

Wood burning stove for my trailer camper, tin tent.

My little wood burner is plenty to heat the small caravan even in winter I can fill it and close the burner door so not too much draft and it will go all night with just a gentle flame. I found though when no wind and raining or foggy sometimes it would not burn too well so I made a chimney...

Wood burning stove for my trailer camper, tin tent.

Made one out of a small gas bottle a couple of years ago for my caravan. It works well I used an old exhaust pipe for the chimney. Just rely on drafts for air intake but like your idea of a pipe to the outside i might add this to mine could put a gate valve in to control the draft.

    Valve caps

Maybe, I was thinking they could be for the 19J to cope with the extra power?? I fitted some anyway and all working OK. Would be interesting to find out the real reason for them though.
