Pulls like a train when cold, but...

Would imagine some form of very noticeable missing/misfiring should be experienced as gas reenters injectors via the fill ports? Also exhaust gas leaking past the injector washers usually comes with other symptoms such as difficulties to start, fuel pump gargling, etc. Another potential...

Pulls like a train when cold, but...

You're quite right, if restarting the engine (= CTRL+ALT+DEL the ECU) restores power then its an engine management issue (limp mode). Suspect oil in loom or ECU cutting back on fueling due to MAF or MAP. Need to interrogate ECU for fault codes & more importantly have live fueling parameters...

TD5 AIR BLEED VALVE in Fuel Filter

Yes, for the reasons explained in the above post link, the air bleed valve is an essential component of the Td5 fuel delivery sytem. May or may not signify the end your troubles, but IME definitely needs to be there.

Pulls like a train when cold, but...

Fuel starvation IME... 1- Replace fuel filter 2- Check fuel pressure (@ loaded engine not idling) to try determine whether it is the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, or a combination of both.

    Auto Gear Changing.

Would you have a p/n for the output shaft sensor? Thanks ahead of time.

    Auto Gear Changing.

Possibly low on ATF or ATF degraded & dirty filter. Since you prob don't know the vehicle's servicing history, suggest ATF change, possibly reiterating it upon fluid condition (can only replace half the autobox capacity each time thence it is called ATF 'purification'). Once happy with ATF...

    Discovery TD5 misfire

Yes it can. And the usual symptoms of the FPR not doing its bit --keeping fuel rail pressure high-- are lack of power, misfiring, etc. Try get fuel pressure measured to assess fuel sender/FPR condition. Also check for oil in loom as this is a recurrent problem, i.e. replacing injector harness...

    The Dreaded Misfire

Tried a known working CKP (crankshaft position sensor)?

    The Dreaded Misfire

Track 3 reading nonsense in a EU2 is normal. Don't think you can install a 3-track TPS in a EU2 engine. The MSB ECU can't handle it. Trying a working ECU is what would suggest next. Have pretty much covered everything else. Rgds Matt

    The Dreaded Misfire

This is typical of a sensor going duff, the ECU hesitates for a second then reverts to the default value in memory and kicks off. Have you followed live fueling parameters through Nanocom to try spot if there are any significant changes between the good and bad engine running modes? ECU...

TD5 engine rough running & power loss

Have a read at this... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f50/td5-misfiring-cutting-out-problem-finally-solved-125039.html It'd be interesting to determine from fault codes if injectors are 'peaking' (potential shorting between injector cables or ground) or 'open-circuiting' (lack of continuity)...

    The Dreaded Misfire

Supply = 5 volts at all times At idle: Track 1 = 0.8 volts Track 2 = 4.2 volts At wide open throttle (WOT): Track 1 = 3.9 volts Track 2 = 1.1 volts All these values are obviously affected by a certain tolerance. At all times Track 1 + Track 2 = 5 volts (checksum = constant at 5 volts) but...

    The Dreaded Misfire

Seen this before... is this an EU2 or EU3 engine (get us the last 8 digits of your VIN if unable to say) and can you tell the part number on the ECU? It also appears that you've seen this http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f50/td5-misfiring-cutting-out-problem-finally-solved-125039.html Have...

    Defender TD5 - screeching noise

My 2 grains of sand: Getting studs out: - Stay away from spiral extractors e.g. 'EZ out' as these tend to break - Square profile straight flute extractors are a lot stronger (see pic below) - Ensure hole is drilled as centred as humanly possible (Dremel tool is best) - Use lots of WD40 or...

    Defender TD5 - screeching noise

No need to rebuild engine! Removing broken exhaust manifold studs is completely within DIY territory (& yes it can be dealt with in situ). Even easier if no A/C fitted.

TD5 - and my massive headache.

Lars, The clutch switch on the Defender Td5 is normally closed while the Puma engine has a normally open clutch switch. Have not seen a Puma one in real life but understand they look quite similar... Are you able to read a part number on the switch? MSK50010 is normally closed while MSK500020...
