    Sticker placement for factory decals

So my 110 TD5 has been resprayed at some point and I’m replacing the missing decals. I’ve got to do the little side TD5 stickers, the big one next to the back door, and the rear Land Rover emblem. I’m a bit a bit anal for getting everything somewhat exact though. Does anyone have any...

    African Rubber Nudge Bar

It was my understanding that all the metal bull bars/A bars were illegal on the roads in the UK. The vehicle will be returning to the UK in a few years so I don’t want to buy a metal one that I’ll have to take off soon, and I don’t want one that’s going to hurt anyone if I do get in an accident...

    African Rubber Nudge Bar

Does anyone happen to know if Defenders in Africa were ever sold with the rubber nudge bar? I’ve never seen any with one but if they were actually sold here I might start the mission to find one. Is there anything I can find that will tell me more about the Africa setups? Thanks.

LHD Air Conditioning in an RHD TD5

Thanks, I’ll have a proper read through what you wrote later with some LR diagrams next to me. If everything between LHD and RHD is the same except the trim inside the cabin then I think I can get the bits and get something working. So it sounds like the stuff in the cabin is basically an on/off...

LHD Air Conditioning in an RHD TD5

I found a few things like that but they were like £5000. I don’t want one of those evaporators that you fill with water just because we had one when our daughter was a baby and it didn’t seem to do anything. I was just searching for “12v ac”, are there better words I should be using?

LHD Air Conditioning in an RHD TD5

I live in Morocco. This is why I’m trying to bodge something together rather than get a full blown solution. I don’t suppose you know what the part under the dashboard does do you? I see from the pictures it’s got some kind of metal cylinders but I’m not sure if they just control the flow of...

LHD Air Conditioning in an RHD TD5

I have an RHD TD5 and I'd like to fit aircon in preparation for a trip to the Sahara later this year. I think I can find parts for an LHD TD5 out here on the second hand market but I'm not sure what else I'll need to fit it to my vehicle. I know there's that hole in the passenger footwell to let...

    Alpine window seal replacement

Brittanica had a video on how to do them using the string method. He claimed it was much easier. I'm hoping that's true because I've just had my roof off and resprayed so I've got to do two of them.

Just changed cylinder head on a TD5, a few questions

Thanks for the reply. I was lying in bed last night and realised it’s probably the one that was around the big plug over to timing chain sprocket.

Just changed cylinder head on a TD5, a few questions

So I've just changed the cylinder head on my TD5 and I've got a few questions before I fire it up. 1. My timing chain tensioner went in without much resistance. Does this mean it needs replacing or is it normal? 2. I've replaced the injector harness but now I can't get the plug to fully...

What liquids for working on a TD5?

Copper grease is a good one. I think I can find those other ones locally and I snuck a load of gearbox oil over in the vehicle when it was shipped. I think two weeks ago I would have been gagging for an order of whisky from the UK but we just managed to get a big £300 order of duty free alcohol...

What liquids for working on a TD5?

:) Good idea, I better check which airline he's with. We've managed it before. As long as it's in the checked luggage and not carry on. The mother-in-law bought a suitcase full of baked beans and HP sauce for us. I'm not asking him to bring a 5L bottle of oil but I think things like Loctite will...

What liquids for working on a TD5?

Sorry for the stupid question but I'm in a hurry. I live in Africa and I struggle to find slightly more unusual bits for working on my TD5. I can get things shipped out from the UK but liquids and powders aren't allowed and getting them here is a massive pain. Like, I need to drive to England...

    Locking the flywheel

I’m a thicko, I’ve got the email about the reply but I’m not entirely sure what was wrong with the suggestion. I thought it was implying that my flywheel was incorrectly fitted.

    Locking the flywheel

I’m assuming the locking pin is the right size. It’s not something I fabricated, I bought the tool with my new cylinder head from Turner Engineering. Ive looked inside and it just looks like a flat piece of metal. I think I’m just going to put it in gear and go for it now I’ve finally go the...

    Locking the flywheel

So I’m a total amateur who’s trying to change a cylinder head. I’ve found top dead centre, I’ve locked the camshaft. When I crawled under to lock the flywheel there’s no “notch” to lock the flywheel. I’ve got two coloured links on the timing chain with the groove between them what am I doing wrong?

Other jobs to do while changing cylinder head

I'm soon going to be changing the cylinder head on my 10P TD5. I expect this is going to be the most involved thing I've ever done, I've never really touched engines before other than changing a throttle body and spark plugs, but I'm expecting it will be a good opportunity to get some other jobs...

    Powered lowering of suspension

Yes, it does sound like a drastic solution, but it's not a problem I need to fix urgently so I have time to mull it over. Unfortunately we're in a new country for a few years, we don't speak the local language, and the house has been provided so I don't think we'll be popular if we start...
