    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

Hello, I recently carried out the fuel mods on my 1995 300tdi, and they made a big improvement. Thanks for all the advice. I just received the brass regulation valve I ordered on ebay and fitted it between the waste gate and turbo outlet. I wound the screw all the way in, (closed off the line...

Who has tweaked their fuel pump to produce better driving characteristics???

On the 300 tdi (1995) the M12 connection at the rear of the air inlet manifold has stacks of room between mainfold and bulkhead. Just drill a hole down the centre of the plug, cut off the threaded end of a brass barbed fitting and silver solder the two together. I fitted a 45 degree brass...

any help on how to turn up boost on turbo

Thanks everyone. I'll start with just trying to screw the gate actuator shaft further in towards the gate to make it shorter. I've loosened the lock nut off but don't seem to be able to rotate the shaft ? I put multigrips on it but it would not rotate. Do I have to unbolt the whole actuator...

Where is 300tdi fuel sedimenter located please

Hello, My stock 1995 300tdi has a device of some sort in the fuel line at the back of the vehicle which looks like a filter of some sort, and also a filter with hand drain point at the front of the vehicle in the engine bay. When I open the hand valve below the filter bowel on the device at...

any help on how to turn up boost on turbo

Thanks James, Do you think its cheaper to fit a $40 manual controller valve between the waste gate and the turbo outlet or just shorten the arm? I am thinking I only want to go to about 1.2 to 1.3Bar.

    300tdi turbo

Hello, I was thinking of increasing the boost pressure. Its a bit over 1Bar now. Will a manual boost controller valve help any or do I have to do something else to increase boost pressure ? I'm a bit confused as to how to actually increase the booste pressure. I have done the fuel mods.

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

Hello Piper109, Could you perhaps post some photos of where the cover is, and what screws I am looking for ? as I'd like to give it a go. I'm also considering a manual boost controller valve, once I find out under what conditions the wastegate bypasses the turbo? I don't know why it is...

any help on how to turn up boost on turbo

Hello, The Manual Boost Valve has got me thinking. I get just over 1 Bar now and find that on local coastal drives (hilly) the boost is sitting at about 1Bar most of the time as I struggle to keep up with traffic. What will the manual valve do? As I understand it, it stops the boost...

Thanks for the info. Is it something I can remove seperately without having to remove turbo or exhaust manifold ?

    wheel spacers

Ok thanks guys, I take your advice. Sounds too risky and 10mm is not going to do anything of worth anyway.

I need to know what the material is inside the 1995 muffler

I'm still feeling crook some weeks after it and still wet coughing. No point in getting scans as theres nothing they can do anyway. I read that the sticky black soot (which was going everywhere), is highly carcinogenic. Maybe thats whats doing it ?

    boost pressure

Hello MPfive, I took my gauge off the inlet manifold. There is an M10 1.5 pitch plug at the bulkhead end of my 1995 300 tdi just visible from the photo (perfect for the connection with a few adaptors). I get a smigion over 1 Bar. Where is this actuator arm located that I hear so much about...

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

I thought i'd also add some pics of how the boost pressure gauge turned out. I would have liked to have fitted a rectangular programmable digital display, but as the human brain responds to an analogue display better for quick changes. I ued an 'Autogauge' stepper boost gauge so I did not have...

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

Thought I'd add some pics of the EGT fitment to the 300 tdi. Turned out like a bought one. The digital display is programmable and has a programmable setpoint relay output.

    wheel spacers

According to many people, the further you move the wheels outwards, the more force on the bearings and axle shaft (I was probably wrong about the studs). Does anyone know if there is a safe amount of thread left on the studs by using the 10mm spacers ?

You are right, I checked with land Rover they advised glass wool. I understand that the lungs can dissolve glass wool so I may survive to do the next stupid thing.

    boost pressure

Hello, Jason from Sydney here. I have just fitted a boost gauge. General forum concensus was that I should measure it on the inlet manifold, nad there was a connection point at the rear. I was wondering what sort of pressure readings I should expect when measuring at the rear of the inlet...

    wheel spacers

Hello, I am running 245/70 semi road Cooper tyres with standard suspension and Range Rover alloy rims on my 1995 300 tdi. I just checked prices and about $500 for a set of alloy. The risk is studs breaking or bearing premature failure or axle failure ? Anyone tried using plain old spacer...
