Any MOT testers in the house..?

The answer on this one was that the motor drive shaft had slipped in relation to the first arm in the linkage of the wiper mechanism, putting the park position of the wipers out of phase with the park position of the motor. Disconnecting the linkage from the motor and moving the position of...

Any MOT testers in the house..?

Thanks all, we'll see what happens when Mrs McBad takes it for the MOT, it's her car. It's currently at the repairers as someone else drove into the back of it! (It's the auto-park function that isn't working... If you have the wipers on intermittent they pause vertical on the screen. If on...

Any MOT testers in the house..?

Windscreen wipers problem. They clear the screen fine and work as normal, however when you turn them off they park in the vertical position up and down the screen. A deft bit of timing with your finger when turning them off gets them to park in the normal horizontal position, so no real issue...

help In shock over garage price

£900 has got to a significant proportion of the total value of the vehicle when your are talking about a series 2a. Surely management at the garage should have had some clue that they needed to talk to you, and get prior approval, if replacing a couple of bushes was running up that sort of...

Wales – Bent Shock Absorbers, Deep water & shock test of my cameras

    Good video m8, enjoyed that!

Got my new toy on finally!

Looks good, but seems a bit OTT for Wales. Not many lions or poisonous snakes here! :)

What have you done to your Landie today.

I know, that's why I said 'cat'. But, it seems that different MOT stations sing from different hymn sheets on this, so will check with my local one next week.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted a new 'sports' exhaust from Paddocks (it's britpart) to my 300tdi Disco; straight through mid-section, normal tail section. Thought the job would be a bit grim in the driveway but it wasn't as bad as expected. Junior hacksaw goes through old rubber exhaust hangers like a knife through...

    Need help!

Worth taking an engineers hammer and giving the starter motor itself a sharp whack. They do sometimes stick. (One of the few things you can actually fix by hitting with a hammer.)

    Trim removal tool...

Don't know if clips and trim fittings in D2 are the same as in D1 but I've found a carpenters claw hammer pretty handy for getting out some of the plastic 'nails' that hold the trim in place.

What mileage is your Disco 1 on?

    79k. 1998 300Tdi. Hardly used?

    CB Woes...

My understanding is that twig adjustments only come into play at an SWR of less than about 2.5; anything above that is fault that cannot be cured by changing the aerial length.

    CB Woes...

:) Yes, things have changed since the 80s when I last played with CB. Then every kid had one in his bedroom. This afternoon all I could find were old men chatting about trucks on one channel and some guy going on about his son's three girlfriends on another. Long term I hope to do some gentle...

    CB Woes...

Well clear of any buildings whilst testing, have even tried driving to the top of the local hill... I've not tried running an additional earth; it would be easy to do just to test (will try that the next time it stops raining). Redhand - I also wondered about that as shed has been damp, but it...

    CB Woes...

Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice on fixing high SWR on my CB set up. I know there are some CB gurus on here. CB is a Midland 77-095; it's been sat in the shed for 20 years but I don't see why it shouldn't work. As I had the head-lining out of the disco I ran some new coax to a new...

    CD Multichanger

There's one of these under my driver's seat (1998 disco). Used it a few times when I first got the vehicle then it stopped working and wouldn't give my CD's back. A large screwdriver changed it's mind. Local independent wasn't surprised - apparently they have a reputation for not lasting long...

Discovery - How to repair a leaking sunroof guide

Have recently done this job on my 1998 disco. Had expected it to be a nightmare (especially as the Haynes manual say leave removal of the head-liner to the experts) but it actually turned out to be quite easy; it just takes time as there are lots of screws to undo. I found there was no need to...

    Wiring a worklight.

Thanks guys. I've spent the afternoon getting all the wires run from behind the glove-box to the back door pillar, ready for the switching and lights. Will need to have a think about where to tap into power... (I also put a mount for a CB aerial in the centre of the roof and ran the coax down...
