Series III NW London service help!

I'm sorry to say this Claire but attempting to run a Series Landrover (or any classic car) with little 'spannering ability' will result in monsterous garage bills. This of course may not be a problem for those with deep pockets. A series Land rover of any kind, 1,2 or 3,if driven daily, will...

    Fuel tank

Those clamshell type tanks were an extremely common after market tank. Widely fitted up to about twenty years ago. No idea why they stopped selling them.

Series 3 Chassis kits - Profiles for assembly

Maybe this was the case decades ago. Richards chassis have been making and selling them for years now. Bit pricey tho compared to their series 2/3 offerings

    Newbie VIN Question?

Hope this helps. Land Rover chassis numbers Older Land Rovers may have a chequered past. They could have been rebuilt several times and ended up with quite a different configuration to the one they started with. Not a problem in itself, but it can be interesting to...

    Is this a light weight?

The pics of it on ebay clearly show it is a lightweight body on an old coiler chassis. Even dvla has it down as a Defender 90 registered in 1973?. The mot history shows the chassis has severe rot, mention of power steering mounts! It is a rusty bitsa that is best dismantled for spares. Do not buy.

Series 3 Series 3 Restoration Project "Rustbucket"

Best advice is ditch the Haynes and source a proper factory manual. Often come up on ebay for £20-40. Probably available to download off the net somewhere. Replace clutch and brake hydraulics in their entirety then you know you are starting from a good position.

    Series 3 Ignition System.

Shouldn't think so. The 24v FFR distributor is a completely different beast to the Civi 12v one. I got my 24v points and condenser from Craddocks.

Series 3 Series III clutch issue

I have snapped the clutch master cyl push rod doing the very same thing. In my case it was a seized slave cyl that was preventing the clutch disengaging.

    Chassis selection

Reposted from the Series one forum. This Land Rover was one of the first in our area to have a replacement galvanised chassis when they first be came available about twenty years ago.
