Series 3 Anyone else noticed S3 prices seem to be on the up?

I'd noticed the opposite. Prices seem to be falling in the last 12months. Understandable with the general state of the economy, rising interest rates, cost of living going up, the possibility of the fuel they use becoming more expensive and less available and ultimately unobtainable.

    Series 2 1967 Series IIA...how to proceed

All my landrovers have been eating E10 since it arrived at the pumps. Not noticed any loss of performance or leaking seals. Never used any additives since the demise of leaded petrol and haven't experienced any valve seat recession yet. It may be because I drive conservatively tho. Millions of...

    Series 2 1967 Series IIA...how to proceed

The USA has been using E10 since 1990. Nothing new there! E15 is also widely used. Where my brother lives in the mid West E85(85% ethanol) is also sold. Storm in a teacup over here, not sure why

    Series 3 sloppy steering

If you're having to do the top bearing as well then for the sake of your sanity it's a remove and do on bench job.

    Series 3 sloppy steering

Steering is quite a safety critical part. Do the job properly and remove steering box and rebuild. I've seen too many steering boxes wrecked by folks just putting a spanner on the adjuster and doing it up tight in an effort to remove play. The adjuster needs just a touch more than finger tight...

    Alternator Pulley

Military FFR pulleys also take a wider belt than the standard civvie pulleys. Don't try and bodge things with grinding 'a bit off here, packing out with washers, reversing thus or that'. Just fit the proper parts and it will all line up nicely. The work you have done so far is very good.

    Alternator Pulley

You are trying to mix military pulleys with a civilian alternator set up. They will not line up. Install the civilian crank and water pump pulleys and belt will line up.

S3 complete rebuild. Advice needed re gearbox!

ZF 4HP-22 gearbox is what was fitted to 300tdi autos. Fitting an auto 300tdi to a Series chassis will put the gear change where the middle front seat is plus all the other engineering challenges involved.
