also theres the ease of maintenance - electrical its an earth anything else - tighten a bolt or hit it with a hammer - extreme case hit bolt with hammer to fix it to the earth wire

I might get the heated seat pad for indoors, I work from home bu the Mrs keeps setting the heating thermostat at 14 degrees when she goes to work and it takes me ages to find where she's hidden it

I should say mentally relaxing rather than physically, you need to work to drive it and you focus on the road due to the antiquated brakes but your mind is on that not the electronics in the car or anything else you may be worried about. Of course there's still the bit of your mind thinking...

    A little moan

I love my series 3 but it has caused me a problem. Our "normal car", as my wife likes to call it, has all the modern stuff on it and I used to really like it. Recently though this stuff has started to get on my nerves. I put it in reverse and the wing mirrors dip so you can better, now I can't...

series 3 exhaust manifold heat shield

If it gets really cold, I'm not going to mess around with mini heaters or stuff like that, ill connect one of these up to the heater pipes and mount it where the middle seat is (gotta go with the old-fashioned style for a series) :

series 3 exhaust manifold heat shield

Im lucky my heater works fine - maybe you should have rerouted the exhaust pipe through the cab, perhaps a double exhaust, one under the car for summer and one through the car for winter with a large diverter valve to change over

series 3 exhaust manifold heat shield

So theres no heat shielding on mine at all - seen the part number for the manifold heat shield but not the rest of the exhaust. Wondering if it would be cheaper to wrap it but not sure thats good for a standard exhaust

series 3 exhaust manifold heat shield

yes heater goes cold when off, i think a heat shield might make a slight difference as the manifold isnt far from the footwell, but probably easier (and cheaper) to put a bit of insulation under the mat on that side. probably will wait till summer as it wont be an issue as the weather gets colder

series 3 exhaust manifold heat shield

Had the landy about 3 months now, only issues i have is my passengers in this weather ask me to turn heater off (mine actually does push out a reasonable amount of heat) even when heater is off. I think the cause is just heat from the exhaust warming up the passenger side footwell. I don't have...

Need help re: 1972 Land Rover Series III!

They would have gone metric by just changing the label on the bag of bolts from 9/16th to 14.30mm

Of course we haven't mentioned the 2 key tools, telescopic rod with magnet on for retrieving dropped bolts which always fall where you can't get them, rod with blue tack on the end for retrieving stuff that'd not magnetic

Need help re: 1972 Land Rover Series III!

Of course the rule is however many spanners, sockets you have, you won't have one that fits that last nut/bolt needed to finish the job. When you do find one that fits there will be a nut the other end exactly the same size so you need 2 spanners/sockets the same size. When you finally find all...

Although after 40 odd years there will be something metric added, I managed to get a nice used socket set with af, whit and metric sockets off ebay. I've used all 3 types and all I've touched with it are the hood frame , thermostat housing, and steering wheel
