    Fitting a soft top

I have acquired a soft top for my 2004 3 door Freelander and before I start trying to fit it I thought it might be sensible to find out if there are any tips and tricks or even a definitive fitting guide ............:) Thanks (I hope) Mike

    Reversing lights and wiper

And as it dries up, so the reversing lights and rear wiper stop functioning again! Now I'm even more confused. I think a replacement switch unit for the gearbox is the place to start.

    Reversing lights and wiper

Now I'm confused, on Thursday evening there was something in excess of two inches of rain, meaning over six inches of standing water in places. After driving through this, when I got home I realised the reversing lights and rear wiper were now working again! :drum: So, problem solved :D As...

    Reversing lights and wiper

Hi all, Seems a fairly common problem with Freelanders of a certain age, the reversing lights have stopped working and the rear wiper does not engage when in reverse. The wiper works normally on the switch. There is power to the switch on the gearbox, but none at the bulbs. Is this likely to be...

Brake light fault - help please

I reckon they've gone at different times and no-one told me. Oh boy, am I checking everything on a regular basis now! They say we learn by our mistakes - I wonder how long I'll keep checking?

Brake light fault - help please

Is there an area on the forum where I could commit Hari-Kiri? I checked last night, prepared to spend hours tracing a fault. Thankfully I rechecked the obvious first - all three bulbs were blown.......... less than a fiver and nice bright brake lights all round. That'll teach me to check...

Brake light fault - help please

Thanks, but it's all three that have stopped working, the two lower and the high level one. If they're earthed from the lamp holders to the chassis I can't see all three going at the same time. I think I'll have to try the connector inside the rear bodywork - if I can find it. Mike

Brake light fault - help please

Hi, I have a 2004 Freelander Serengeti on which the brake lights have stopped working. I have checked the fuse (same fuse does the reversing lights) and that's fine. I have replaced the brake light switch on the pedal and that has made no difference. Is there something simple I am missing, or...

    Four wheel drive?

OK, I'm a newbie to Land Rovers and especially to Freelanders. My question is, on the face of it, quite simple - is the 2004 Mk 1 1800cc three door (Serengeti) Freelander fixed four wheel drive? I ask because some tell me it is "intelligent" four wheel drive (cuts in when needed), while...

    Workshop manual

I bought a CD workshop manual on ebay - arrived very quickly, but has absolutely nothing on bodywork. The seller has offered a refund, but since it was only a couple of quid I really can't be bothered to return it. Does anyone know where I can get a version which actually covers the whole vehicle?

    Front bumper removal.

Hi, I have a 2004, 1800cc, three door Freelander with the big over-rider on the front bumper. My problem is that the washer pump for the windscreen has packed in. I have a new(ish) bottle with pumps ready to fit but I cannot get the front bumper off! I have seen written instructions - remove the...
