Not one for the purists but i fitted my RRS side steps to the DSE, quite a simple task in the end bit of cutting and welding all done in 2 hours. Smartens it up and gives me the steps back for the kids.

EAS, as Martyn said, Spec, a DSE should have all you need, DHSE even better. Leaks outside, As with any car oil coming from diffs or box, Grease coming form Hubs / balljoints, Oil / fuel / water coming from Engine, PAS fluid. Leaks inside, carpets should be dry as a bone, check that front...

You can get it on flea bay I think

Went to check with my mate Diesel Dave and he tells me to use PU tube as its highly chemical resistant and will not degrade / swell. Also resilient t Bio fuel apparently.

Yeah i had to replace the leak off pipes on my last one, bought the stuff from Island 4x4 and 3 months later it failed the mot on fuel leaking from engine. At first the garage diagnosed leaking FP, then on investigation it was the leak off pipes that had swollen, garage changed them FOC for some...

My.money is on that rattle you've been hearing is the starter engaged on a running engine. I know how I would stop it happening again but I'll keep that to myself I'm not stupid enough to go public on here and get hammered by the do it right brigade :rolleyes:

Hmmmm don't think so I always go to the same BP station, can't recall going anywhere else. Honestly all I did last weekend was swap the valve block and driver and fitted led side light bulbs, if it's the bulbs I'm buying a sh1t load and selling them on here £10.a pair!!

See that's what I was saying on page one, if the starter had been engaging or staying engaged with the motor running it on takes a few minutes to feck it, won't seize till it cools down usually.

You could have cleaned it while you had it off martyn :D

Not to my knowledge and if it has it didn't work for the first 3 weeks I owned the car. when I bought the car it felt exactly the same as my last Dse and I've driven others as well, they all feel pretty much the same, mine now really does feel sharp, no more powerful just sharp on the power...

Helicoil kit for the stripped thread. if I had been through as many starter motors as you I wouldn't just bolt another one on without wiring it up to your loom and testing it a good few times to make sure that it dissengages when the key is relesed.

Anyway, why's my car running like a racing snake? it feels great to blip the throttle from standstill or at speed and have instant acceleration.

True, It was my brothers petrol E30 bmw i set on fire, the electric pump kicked in as soon as the ignition went on and couldn't reach pressure as the injectors were wide open so just ran till it filled the cylinders.

To be honest i was just cruising at 65 for 350 of those miles

Could be fuel? i've seen an engine hydraulic after a faulty ecu sent the injectors to full bore. In fact i set it on fire pulling the plugs and spinning the engine, that was a fun day! amazing how fast you can waft your jumper when you need to!

Well its still driving like a new car, cant believe my luck! I am fully aware there's always a trade off, you know every silver lining has a black cloud, so i decided to validate my fuel consumption. Filled it to the neck Monday night, clocked up 397 miles by this afternoon so call it 400. 57.4...

I didn't want to mention hydraulic lock and panic the guy but yes that what it could be.
