    With 2" lift

I've always thought that the D2 needs a 2 inch lift to bring it back into proportion. However, your D2 now looks a bit under wheeled so go for your larger choice of tyres.

Brand New Landy Owner - And Loving It!

I hope its a diesel. As you're not taking it off-road, consider removing the propshaft to increase the life of the transmission.

    im a newbe

Greetings Farmer Jim, Feel free to join us at the 'Solent and District (SAD) Landrover club. And you may get a better response to your vehicles problems if you post on the Freelander section. Welcome.

defender 110, Disco 2 or Disco 3 which one?

In my humble opinion, not the tractor, certainly not the computer on wheels, go for the best D2 and put it on coil springs all round.

    Hello and welcome.

    Annoying Squeak

Remove the prop and drive it around with the diff lock engaged until you get the UJ replaced. If a UJ lets go at speed all bloody hell can let loose. However, they are dirt cheap and easy enough to replace and with the prop off I would recommend replacing the pair of them.

New Freelander and I'm loving it

I'm glad you called them 'snags' as they are no way serious enough to be called problems. For your sticky lock may I suggest that you remove the door card and lubricate all the joints and pivots within the mechanism. Welcome.

    Freelander 1 help reqiuired Please!

The front window regulators are a common failure and easy enough to replace. Buy a new one off ebay for about £50 from memory. I wouldn't bother trying to fix your existing one. The rear windows sounds like a button issue. Get a multimeter and check if the rear switch is receiving power and...

    freelander1 rail

Aren't they made of aluminium? In which case a quick rub down and a can of black spray paint should have them as good as new. Hopefully.

    Morocco March 2016

James, When my mad brother-in-law and I done Morocco back in 2010, I got the route from an excellent book called 'Sahara overland' by Chris Scot. These routes also contain GPS way points which I then painstakingly manually entered into my Garmin Geko handheld GPS. This simple set up worked a...

Therapy is available for your condition and thankfully, for convenience, it is available in a bottle. Whilst writing this, I'm currently having some treatment myself with a solution called 'London Pride'

    My first landrover...Freelander 1 TD4 ES. Am I mad?

Welcome. Try removing your propshaft to see if that helps. It will eliminated the transmission wind up as well. The treads on my (now sold) freelanders rear tyres had become 'castled' due to transmission wind up and gave an unhappy wheel bearing noise.

    Suspension Raising + the bits

Welcome, I think the D2 needs a 2 inch lift to make it look more in proportion. If your truck is on coil springs all round then the cheapest method would be to fit spring spacers but you should fit + 2 inch rear shock absorbers as they will 'top out'. The rear ARB can be refitted using tow bar...

    Was it a mistake

Greetings, Both are good vehicles. At least the 300tdi (disco I assume) will not cough and fart at the first puddle and will do close to twice the MPG.

    Advice please.

Rust kills D1's, everything else can usually be cheaply and easily fixed. So check it thoroughly for rust, expect a little but it's MOT failure rot that you need to avoid. If it's good, haggle by all means but be willing to pay the full asking price as Good D1's are becoming a bit rare now.

    Portugal trek august 2015 anyone?

James, I was going to suggest that someone does a bit of a video diary to record our trip. Looks like you've just volunteered for the job, and you'll have 72 cans of cold on board - smart.
