    Young Driver Land Rover Insurance

If you're young, try getting a quote for yourself BUT add old farts with clean driving licences as named drivers. This took a good chunk off any daughters first premium.

    Pyrenees Road Trip

In my experience, the Pyrenees often act like a weather barrier. Rain on the French side and sunshine on the Spanish. It may be worth you planning a contingency route taking you rapidly south should you encounter continuous rain on the French side.

What has happen to the adventurism with Defender owners.

You're not wrong Mike. For a forum with 115,000 members you would expect a bit more expedition activity. Maybe they're all using Alas overland or trailmasters as I have had only one taker (thank you James & Sarah) for the trips I have offered here in the past. For this year I am joining...

300tdi smoking and no power, any ideas.

The crud in your inlet manifold is caused by the egr. Block it off when refitting the inlet manifold. As Chris says, check your turbo hoses as they could be delaminated and sucking flat when you take your foot off the accelerator.

    Diesel or V6 Petrol?

If your company are going to pay the fuel bill, then go for a car with a huge petrol engine. They're cheaper to buy and avoid modern diesel complexities such as EGR's, DPF's, DMF's. For your 5k budget you could get yourself a Porsche Cayenne. If you do go down the F2 route, go for the 3.2 petrol.

    TD5 Parts Zagora

I managed to find a radiator for my 300 tdi disco back in 2010 in Zagora. From memory the garage was named after its owner Mohammed Gordito ( not 100% sure of the spelling). But even if he has your bits, expect to pay through the roof for them. Landy spares seem to be quite rare in Morocco and...

    loss of power on pullaway.

Your inlet manifold could be full of muck from the EGR. For the cost of a gasket, it would be worth removing and cleaning it. Block off the EGR upon refitting. 300 tdi turbo hoses generally fail inside by de-laminating and sucking flat on engine over-run. But you might as well replace them while...

    Help please

Indeed, holding up the traffic on a French motorway isn't very challenging. Maybe have a google at Plymouth-Dakar, I done the Morocco one a few years ago. Didn't go through Mauritania and Senegal as I thought that being shot by Isis may hurt. Could look at mogul rally? I'm assuming that you have...

What are the brexit implications for overlanding in Europe?

I doubt if any of significance will change. I used to drive through europe before the EUSSR got dreamed up as did my parents before the common market. Had no issues back then.

If it was late October, I may be able to join you but I cannot get the amount of time off needed earlier in the month. I do have a list of way points from central to southern Portugal which 2 of us attempted to follow last year, however, this method is tedious, slow and inaccurate. Have a...
