Hand brake fitting of 110 CSW?

It's not hard but the adjustment details are important. Some of this is from the original LR manual, some is from memory. 1. Chock front wheels 2. Jack up one rear wheel & support with axle stand 3. Release handbrake 4. Remove the rear prop shaft from the transfer case / hbrake drum...

    Dash Lights

As far as I remember the answer is no lights on these controls.

    Smokey and The Defender

Another thought. Blue smoke usually means burning oil so it could be more evidence for a head gasket. ie combined leak of water and oil-way into a cylinder. Check for white/biscuit coloured sludge in the oil filler cap (which would mean water is also getting into the crankcase)

    Please HELP

Can't remember all the details but my independant LR specialist told me that this is a common problem with 1.8 Freelanders and that LR are now becoming quite hard work with any warranty work. He claims there is an engine design fault and LR are trying to duck dealing with the financial...

    Smokey and The Defender

Could be that the once the engine is hot, small thermal movements allow some water past the head gasket... ie, early stages of a real failure. Whiteish smoke can mean water in the combustion. Try putting your hand over the end of the exhaust after the engine is warm & running. If you can...

    300tdi getting sick

My 100 300tdi used to be perfect - no smoke at startup, quiet idle and good for 100mph (honest - 105 once downhill) However a couple of months ago two small noises started - one a light metallic rattle - like petrol engine pinking, the other a knock much like a stuck hyraulic lifter as it...

    Poor brakes on Defender 110

Thanks for thoughts on this. Forgot to say new fluid 6 months ago... Had a look at all of it and in the end I figured it could only be the pump. A lot of money later (but less than LR - thank you paddocks) and brakes are fixed - also the oil leak that the dealer claimed was oil cooler...

    200 TDi Gearbox

Second recommendation tonight for Ashcroft Transmissions in Luton (and I don't have anything to do with them other than got great advice & service) but give them a call on 01582 496040 and I'm sure they can tell you what it is.

    oil leaks!!

There's a lot of stuff with oil in round there and lots of places for it to come out! See if you can figure out if it's thick EP90 transfer box oil or gearbox oil - might be an LT77 gbox in 91 which I think also used ATF like the later R380s. ATF is thinner than EP90 and red - but I could be...

    Poor brakes on Defender 110

Need some ideas about 110 brakes please. The effort required to stop is like there's no servo. It's ok but I couldn't lock the wheels so I'd rather not ignore it. Here's what I do know; Pads are nearly new all round Problem has developed progressively rather than suddenly The servo...

    Gearbox has gone and bust

If you only get drive with difflock then the gbox is likely ok and transfer box probably is too (unless an output from the centre diff has broken). Might be a problem in either the front or rear diff. Also could be a stripped drive shaft (where it enters the drive flange at any wheel) I...
