    lanndyzone.co.uk trip .....

As I mentioned map is a bit old and old information was used for some routes, but thanks for feedback :-) That was there for reference only and not a likely route... Indeed alternatives routes take you down through eastern Europe actually and Turkey, which are sometimes cheaper in carnet and...

    Morocco Christmas 2010

For anyone that wants to join I am planning a round trip to Morocco and back over Christmas and New Year. So far it's one vehicle from London (Defender 110) and possibly one from Italy meeting me in Spain. If other cars want to join in let me know, and we can share routes and organizational...

just reviving this topic as I am interested too :-) Got landy (see signature) and ready to leave maybe in one year from now or so? When is the ideal season for this? and what are the preferred routes? I have a sketch of possible routes I put down some time ago here: North-South - Google Maps...

UK - Cape Town Summer 2010

It is a good point... But if the cost of the carnet is not a problem, then... I would think that an advantage of having all the same make (landys let's say) would be to share expertise for repairs, and spare parts, which is a not-so-small consideration... Jonathan

    Camp Shower, Garden Pressure sprayer.

Found this while browsing around Westfalia Water Heater & Shower Seems like a nice idea... and quoting: "From a cold-engine start it took only 30 minutes for the half-full water tank to reach just over 55oC! From a hot-engine start it took only 15 minutes to heat the half tank of water." Seems...

    Camp Shower, Garden Pressure sprayer.

Very interesting idea... My only concern would be having a gas water heater rattling in the trunk of the car... I have 2 of these in my house back in Italy... and they are not built TOUGH. They do appear delicate... and my concern is that rattling on offroad/dirt/gravel might cause gas pipes to...

    Camp Shower, Garden Pressure sprayer.

you mean something like this: Hozelock Porta Flower Shower: Amazon.co.uk: Garden & Outdoors ? Looks interesting as you build up pressure with the hand pump hmmm :-) Nice Idea... Perhaps... Why not get one of those house water pressure tanks and plug a compressor to it, since I should have one...

    any experience with satelite phones

Everyone to his own opinion, and of course your point regarding bulkyness is VERY valid! :) getting stolen and not carring it around makes a lot of sense... my reason for not getting it would only be that i would mainly travel where there is NO service, so would be pointless for me... hence...

    any experience with satelite phones

Regarding that bit... beware that 3G is NOT a satellite protocol, but a GSM protocol GSM runs over land base Stations Sat runs direct to satellite (hence the big antenna!) So yes they are offering 3G, but that will ONLY work in towns/villages... and not in the wild... But for...
