    Learning to weld & equipment

Have a chat with a local pub landlord, Del - They may be able to do a deal with you for a co2 bottle - see if you can find an empty one, and just pay the landlord for swaps. Usually find them in the classifieds! As with all welding, practice makes perfect! Keep it clean and be confident and...

Please watch cctv footage of theives eyeing up how they can get my 90

You are not over reacting at all. They were casing it out. Cameras that are visable may help - but they may just come with hoods etc next time. Security is about making life difficult for them. If you have a couple of those sunk in bollards, it will help deter them as they will make more...

    Head Skim in Bournemouth?

    Sad Day

There is an FC on the auction site...its in boxes, but all there with new chassis. It will put a smile on your face, give you something to do after the wife has packed her bags and moved out..which covers all bases!:)

    transit diesel engine

^^^agree - if you are changing engines, I would look at a TDI or even a 2.5na landy lump. Transit wouldn't gain anything.

    Insurance funny

Lancaster are pretty cheap! I think my old spitfire cost something like £130 with full breakdown cover fully comp. The landy is on trade, so no idea! Don't know anyone that pays over £200 comp though! Only thing with lancaster, they do renew automatically, so if you shop around the next year...

    Learning to weld & equipment

There is a good second hand market about - from people who try it and give up! I picked up a brand new one which some guy had tried some stainless welding on his boat - for £80. That was over ten years ago! It is a mid range one (between hobby and pro) and new cost was about £300 - like I said...

    Off road campers

Aussies have already done that! You would be amazed where they take them! As for off road conversions, there are plenty of outfits in the UK that convert and sell expedition vehicles. Most of these either are roof tents or internal rear seat bed based, which can be cramped. You could...

    Good Budget

I would think you should pick up a reasonable running one for that - don't expect concours, as they are going up in value - that said, there are some bargains out there if you want to spend some time on it. Otherwise, one that requires finishing will be quite acheivable.

Another ****ing thread about series ****ing brakes :D

I would do it manually! I have tried easy bleed kits and they are more trouble than they are worth in my opinion and only good for high pressure systems, still rather not use them though! Wheels should just be able to turn ideally, then bleed through. Pedal will have a little bit of travel...

    series 1 wipers

    Dunsfold probably your best bet!

The ultimate question! What’s the best?

Series 2 has to be the best for a fun drive - not fast, but makes you laugh with crash box all the way! Basic mechanics, and if you have a recovery version - then the cheapest motoring!

    wet car doesn't work

I would initially look at the king lead, they cahff on the air box - a ........one of many weak points on the freeloader. Whilst you are at it, clean the dizzy out and check for cracks. They also have problems with the ECU filling with water as the drain hole gets blocked. Check those...

    Dodgey dodgey 90

ignition is the large switch in the centre panel. Also controls the lights. The dash is a late series 2 as the vents on a lever, and not a twist dial as the earlier ones. Defnitely a bitsa at least - why the rangie ID is strange. Possibly as already suggested, he cannot get it mot'd - or as i...

    EJS793E Series II Help Tracing

It may pay to ask the S2 Club, they have a DVLA officer who would porbably be able to help -it may even be listed in the club - you never know! series2club.co.uk

    These symptoms...all point to what?

After reading through the posts, I was about the ask if that had been done! Usually after 500 miles, the head will need retorquing!

Strange noise from underneath - can't figure it out

If the steering wheel is shaking, it is more than likely the front wheel causing it - which will go on a bend, as you say, when the slack is taken up. You can pack with grease, nip it and and test - then replace it. Steering shake can also be caused by muddy wheels that are out of balance...

Have I been sold a pup?

It could also have been mot'd with his off road tyres on, which he then swapped for an old set to sell - you never can tell!

My first landrover - What should I know?

Grease points and joints to start! Make sure all are wroking tight and moving free. Check swivels for pitting/leaks. Rip off drums and check for wear and leaking cylinders. Now pop under and check props for movement, oil leaks on transfer/gearbox/axles etc. One other thing you need to know...
