    busted 200tdi front prop

Did the propshaft break with no warning? No squeaking, knocking or vibration? The U/J's usually give plenty of notice that they're past it.

A New 110 as a long distance "family" car?

Unless you're a shortarse you won't fit in a new Defender. Well I can't anyway.

    Matched Coloured out Windows

The previous owner of my 110 SW took the rear windows out and riveted aluminium panels over the holes. Painted the same colour as the rest of the body. Some might say it's a bodge but it looks fine.

    insurance! that cant be right?

About 180 quid fully comp including business use. The missus has a Volvo estate with no NC on it as we've used it on one of our other vehicles and that's only 180 quid too. My transit is most expensive due to my son being named driver at about 380 quid. So add all three together and it's less...

A question about towing, low range and diff lock

It's assumed by a lot of people that a Landy can pretty much go anywhere. In the real world a bit of a slope, a drop of rain and a bit of clay soil to clog up your tyre treads and you ain't going anywhere, never mind towing anything.

    Alloy wheels

Hardest thing will be telling your friends and family you're gay. Why do people want to put alloy wheels on Defenders?

    Odd Vibration above 30mph

Just did one of mine yesterday. I had the gearbox out about a month ago and they seemed fine then but one has disintegrated since. I give the circlips a good soaking with wd40 or similar then wire brush all the crud off then a pointed punch in the little hole and tap it out. It'll bend, then...

    advice please! defender 90

I bought my current 110 off ebay. I bid for it based on worst case scenario and always expect the worst so if it turned out to be ****e I would have still paid the right money for it. It was finishing at a funny time, about midnight on the saturday between xmas and new year, so I was hoping it...

    Pros and Cons

Very little point in that due to the need to slosh out a fair bit of mud that gets in there with me.

    Pros and Cons

Pros. I'm self employed, and my work involves me driving about in my Defender a lot of the time. Mostly country lanes and fields with the odd trip further afield. Not usually in too much of a hurry and I live in a beautiful part of the world. Cons. My work involves me driving around in my...

Who owns a land working landy?

Here's a link to a thread I started in 2007 on a similar subject. Soon degenerated into silly banter if I remember. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/working-land-39331.html

Who owns a land working landy?

I've used Land Rovers to tow a harrow, roller and in the past a gang mower we used to have. It's ok when it's dry but if it's at all wet forget it and use a tractor. I do use my 110 every day for farming related stuff but it's pretty much just towing trailers and getting about the fields. The...

    200tdi debate. Elecy or Viscous???

I've run a 200tdi for a long time without a fan. Heavy towing and traffic made no difference. I also ran a 19J turbo diesel in a 109 for a year with no fan. It didn't get the same heavy use but still never got hot. If you suffer from overheating in the UK something's not right with your cooling...

    Full length r380 conversion help...

My question would be why? There's nothing wrong with a good LT77 so why go to all that trouble to stuff in something that doesn't fit?

    Discovery, which one?

You'll be very lucky indeed to find a rot free 300tdi disco unless you can get one that's had a nut and bolt rebuild with all the trouble spots replaced. Why not chop your hardtop defender in for a 110 station wagon?

Where do you keep your spare wheel?

the wolf is right. I only open my bonnet maybe once a week to check oils etc and on the rare occasion I need to get a bit more room I can take the spare off. The only place I can think of where it would be less in the way would be on the roof.

Where do you keep your spare wheel?

But how often do you need to lift the bonnet? Or especially flip it right back? I'm in and out of my back door all day long so it'd be a pain to have the spare on there even on a swingaway thingy.
