I've gone to YouTube but haven't found one that shows how to make the panel go back in .

The procedure didn't seem complicated enough to take photographs . The last thing I removed was the vent panel , but I got that out in the absence of the demister tube and with a horrid amount of bending and twisting . ( The panel , not me ) .

I haven't removed the flap control screws or anything under the dash tray . To remove the dash tray to get at the lower dash bolts I would have to remove the demister tubes , if I then managed to get the vented panel back in I would have no access to replace the tubes . If I'm seeing it right .

Hi , I removed the top and front part of my 1995 300tdi dash panel to replace the wiper wheel boxes . I was reluctant to remove the vented part of the dash but it was impossible to access the air duct screws without doing so . Can someone please tell me how to replace it ? Thanks ..

Hi Meego , regretfully I think I will have to go for a reconditioned box . I managed to get the seal inside the housing using a pipe within a pipe , the bigger pipe compressing the seal lip and the smaller one driving it in . Two problems , first , doing this compresses the centre of the seal...

Basically tried all that , as for the YouTube video , he conveniently skips the actual fitting of the lip into the box . Anyway I'm giving up on it and calling in a mechanic , I'm getting nowhere with it .

Hi Ratae , I did indeed manage to get the circlip out ! .. by drilling holes in the washer and using a dent puller to partly bust it out from behind the circlip , then chiseling out the remainder of the washer partly breaking the circlip .. what a frigging nightmare ! I also thought of the tube...
