Series 2 Roamerdrive don't know - Transfer Box Drain Plug Thread Size (Imperial)

Resurrecting this old thread. Same issue here. Trying to install the cover and my original drain plug wouldn’t thread in. Feels like a different pitch. The website said it fits 540870, so I ordered one. Absolutely no difference! Same response from global to amber as you. No solutions...

Gearbox and Transfer Case Gasket and Seal Kit - 3 Brothers

Has anyone purchased the 3 Brothers Gearbox and Transfer Case gasket and seal kit (GT-600603SK3)? It's a bit higher priced than others I've seen so wondering if it includes more parts or uses better quality parts. It claims to have everything needed...

    Rear differential flange torque

1979 Santana 109 with Rover rear axle. I replaced my rear piñon seal and flange. I torqued to 85 lb ft based on the green bible. The flange turns but is tight. I just want to make sure I didn’t over tighten. Bearings feel fine, it’s just takes a decent effort to turn it. The nut came loose...

Lost high range gear in transfer box??i

FYI, this link didn't work for me but I've done lots of research. Thank goodness these vehicles are not overly complicated.

Lost high range gear in transfer box??i

Yep. Working up the parts list now. These Santana's don't seem to match up with the Series 3's in that my rear axle is not Salisbury. The entire third member is removable from the front of the casing like the front axle. I figure if I'm going this deep, I might as well refurbish the entire...

Lost high range gear in transfer box??i

Update: 4wd, high ratio works running front wheel drive only I believe. 4wd low ratio works, not sure if front wheels only. 2wd high ratio does not work. 2wd low ratio works at rear wheels. Update 2: based on the issue, I suspected broken 1/2 shaft. Yep. At least one so changing both.

Lost high range gear in transfer box??i

Land Rover newbie. 1979 Santana. Driving in 2wd. Leaving a stoplight, I hear a large bang from what I thought was the rear diff and lost drive. I pressed the yellow knob down after stopping and no drive whatsoever to either axle. I put it in low ratio and was able to limp it back to work...

    Help identifying front brakes

This situation is exactly why I posted. I know the Santanas have some subtle differences but I haven't found much to help identify the specific differences. I appreciate everyone's help. Mine started pulling pretty hard to the left, now that I've been driving it for a few weeks. The soft...

I'll look into this. No companies near me unfortunately.

    Help identifying front brakes

The attached image is the front right brake on my 1979 Santana 109. I was trying to get parts numbers documented but none of the pictures of the shoes available look like what's installed. I also found a Santana parts catalog and those parts didn't look the same either. Additionally, all the...

    1979 Santana Air Injection?

I have a mystery pump on my 1979 Santana 2.25 diesel, which I’m assuming is an air pump as the hoses connect to the air intake plug. It runs off a second, very small belt driven off the crank and is mounted under the alternator. I can’t find any specifics for this pump. I did find the section...

    Front drum issue

Disregard I figured it out. The shoes were not parallel at all.

    Front drum issue

Next self-inflicted issue. Right front brake was grabbing like crazy. Pulled the drum thinking maybe the shoes weren’t in parallel with the drum so I could adjust that setting. I confirmed the snail gears were set to their lowest points. Drum won’t go back on. Obviously something I did. Help...

Is this a fuse on the negative?

There is. How does it work? Obviously I turned it, causing the problem and I tried to turn it back. So I’m guessing I’m either using it wrong or I may have have broken it.

Is this a fuse on the negative?

Just got my 1979 Santana series 3 109 station wagon. I took it out for a few miles and came back to snoop around inside. When I went to start it back up to park it, no power whatsoever. No lights… nothing. I took the battery out and charged it to be sure that wasn’t it. Nope. Fuses inside...

Front diff/axle housing covered in oil

Thanks everyone. From what I've been told, the steering is particularly good on this truck. And, with all your feedback, I think I'll simply start by cleaning it all up and replacing the fluids in the swivel and diff and see what happens from there! New to Series ownership, but my dad had a...
