    Balancing weights on steel rims

I was just going to mention that. hah Went to a different shop to get the wheels balanced. Glad I did as some of my rims now have some huge weights on them. The big weight in the 2nd picture I can wiggle around, speaking of welding, I am thinking about trying to glue those big ones down with 2...

    Balancing weights on steel rims

ok guess I will throw them in the pickup tomorrow, and get them balanced with the tyres on at some other shop. I was curious if the rims are balanced separately, because my rims had weights on the inner and outer side of the rim. The weight on the inside looked like they were glued on. Thanks

    Balancing weights on steel rims

Just got my rims back from paint shop and some new rubber put on. The old weights on the inside of the rims disappeared I noticed. Anyway the tire shop next door did not do any balancing, then when confronted the worker guy acted confused, and wants me to come back another time with my land...

Rear step on 2a 109- Factory or Not?

They are a bugger to clean up. That rear one was the worst, very pitted under the rubber. My wagon is up on floor jacks outside the kitchen. Waiting for new tires and blasted rims. Tyres are a little hard to find esp. for original narrow 5" rims.

    series 3 fitting a radio

I wanted a radio in mine as well without drilling holes or making brackets. I made a plywood box, glued a towel to it, cut a hole for a automotive radio with bluetooth in the top, cut 2 more holes in the side and put a couple speakers in it. You really only need battery positive and chasis...

Rear step on 2a 109- Factory or Not?

I have the grinder out today. I am wondering if this looks like factory rear step or previous owner addition. I am having a hard time finding a picture on the Internet of a restored 109 with rear step. I want to slap on a cutting wheel, and get rid of it if its not original. 1966-67 109"...

wheel well- painting the birmabright or not

The dinitrol reviews seem very positive for that stuff. I don't have access to it though. I do also have a couple cans of thick coating agent (non rubberized) spray. I believe its call threebond. Stuff seems to stick really good. Has some texture to it as well. Probably not going to use red...

wheel well- painting the birmabright or not

Do you guys paint the wheel wells? I have have all the tires off (ordering new ones), all the way down to the axle and have been wire wheeling and red oxide / spray painting the parts- hubs, drums, back plate etc. Looking at the inside wheel well I figure its a good time to get the flakey stuff...

Just found the horn searching "bosch vintage horns". Mine is parts I think. Looks like its a VW horn. Looks like it can make quite the racket (youtube). I located the carb elbow part numbers except for the one on the bottom, that one looks almost like Jeep Willys carb elbow (again according to...

With my google fu all I could find is another carb that looks the same called Carter YF. That air tank thingy shall remain a mystery. Here is some more stuff in boxes I dragged out and am not sure what they are. Some kind of noise maker I think: The middle elbow does not have a place for the...

right James Martin score 1. Here is a carb I found in with a bunch of solex carbs. I don't think its Land Rover option, but I thought I better ask. Here is a empty canister with a hose fitting on each end. Lastly for now is a sump, just need to know if it is for petrol 2.25, or another...

Hi, I have been slowly organizing, and labeling my spare parts for Series Land Rovers. If some of you forum members could help me to id the stuff in the photo's if they are Series parts or :mad:not Series. I am up to around 300 different items according to my spreadsheet. I might post a new...

    Hot engine cuts out

Procrastinated until the sticker experation today. I planned to make a wire from the ac clutch to the fuel pump relay nearby (after market ac kit installed from po's mechanic). Well I found out a rat chomped through a bunch of wires (i guess thats why the A/C stoped working a while back lol)...

    Hot engine cuts out

If you are correct I would like to see your wiring diagram. I have a el-cheapo electric pump installed now, but might switch that to faucet brand if your wisdom fixes my problem. Is your faucet brand pump quiet? Do you remember the model number? That is a good idea with the oil dummy light. The...

    Hot engine cuts out

ah vapor lock at the mechanical fuel pump! I can try to play with that. I will look around for some hose clamps and then try bypass the mechanical pump. I will change the momentary switch to a non-momentary it goes to a relay so maybe a wire from ignition to electric fuel pump relay. I hear...

    Hot engine cuts out

Hello, I have to do something like a annual MOT for my 2.25L petrol this week, and have one issue that might show up depending on how hot it is the day of the inspection. (I am going to try and go early morning) The issue is the engine cuts out when it gets hot, if I rev up, or accelerate then...
